Sounds like: a mix between the Postal Service, the Books, a touch of Bon Iver.
It’s a busy time of year. So overwhelming that the Holiday doesn’t even feel like a Holiday! It feels like there isn’t time to breath with the millions of things we’ve yet to get done, gifts we’ve still got to buy, and the crowds we have to push threw. We all indulge around the Holidays, some habits more than others – upon indulging in hours and hours of new music, I came across The Notwist.
The ambient, relaxing sounds of the single “Boneless” from the Album “The Devil, You + Me” is proves that simplicity is beautiful. Like a breath of fresh air. When everything else seems overly complicated, it is always nice to have that one thing you know won’t disappoint – the electronic rhythms give the music a strength and security, a trait that is dwindling within modern music. The delicate vocals of brothers, Markus and Micha Acher are so wispy yet, so crucial to the layers of music.
The German indie rock band, The Notwist, was formed in 1989, has been re-incarnated many-a-time, from heavy-mental-dark-indie-rock to their current electronica form. The album “TD,Y+M” is was released 2008. The single “Consequences” off of the previous album “Neon Gold” is also a little gem, worth a listen.
Whether you’ve just finished stressing about exams, or worried about preparations for the Holidays, or you’ve got a list as long as YOUR FOREARM OF THINGS TO DO!!!???!!? – JUST STOP. Do yourself a favour, turn on your iPod and listen to a little Notwist. It will remind you that amongst all the rubbish, life is good.
