BRIT Award Nominee Covers Rihanna

Hot off the heels of Rihanna‘s annoucement her LOUD World Tour is hitting Canada, we’ve discovered her first track off the album, Only Girl In The World, was covered by none other than 2011 BRIT Award nominee Ellie Goulding!

We all know Rihanna but who is Ellie Goulding? For anyone not in the know, she’s been nominated in the British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Artist categories this year, and won the Critic’s Choice Award at the 2010 BRIT Awards. Her debut album Lights was released in 2010 and will be coming to North America in March 2011. She’s also the sweet voice behind “Everytime You Go” which was featured in The Vampire Diaries in the season one finale.

This was actually recorded in December 2010, but how many of you heard it back then? I’ve just heard it today and the song is AMAZING! She took a poppy dance track and toned it down, added an emotional vibe with her light voice and gave the verses a bit more depth with her sound. Check it out:
