Everyone’s talking about Britney‘s Circus and it hasn’t even officially come out yet! However there are various promos, sneak peeks and leaks that have surfaced all over the world wide interweb – and from what I’ve heard of it, the album’s, well, good!

There are definitely a few stand-out tracks, especially the back-to-back coupling of dancefloor burners “Kill the Lights” and “Shattered Glass”.

Overall though, I do think that last year’s Blackout (a grower of an album that Britney was more or less absent on, in mind and spirit) was conceptually a better album. The producers had finessed the shit out of it, making it ideal for blaring headphones and dance clubs. I’d say that the same goes for Circus, but with the addition of a few ballads and mid-tempo beats (and the curious addition of “Radar”, which was also on Blackout), the new album hasn’t completely won me over…YET. I believe that Britney’s songs are meant to grow on you, to implant their catchy hooks into your brain, so I realize this early judgment is unfair – thus I’m anxiously waiting to get my hands (and ears) on a fully mastered studio version on its December 2nd release date.

And shameless plug (“shameless” because I’m actually very excited for this)… Britney: For The Record airs on MuchMusic on Sun, Nov 30th @ 10pm ET. You do NOT want to miss it.
