Broken Social Scene to headline Halifax M Fest

April 5th, 2011

The Halifax Pop Explosion isn’t happening until October 18th to the 22nd, but that hasn’t stopped the organizers from throwing a party a couple months in advance to get everyone excited.

The long-running music fest has announced a new offshoot called Halifax M Fest that will take place over the course of Sunday, August 7th. Actually taking place at the Alderney Landing Events Plaza
on the Dartmouth Waterfront in the nearby Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, the single-day event has already secured some pretty impressive names for the gig.

Toronto indie rock purveyors Broken Social Scene (above) will headline the festival with Ted Leo + The Pharmacists, Surfer Blood and Diamond Rings taking the stage beforehand as support. As satisfying as those bands are, the organizers says there will be “more bands announced in the coming weeks.”

Tickets go on sale this Monday, April 11th for a respectable $39.50. Tickets on the day of show will also be available for $44.50.
