The music gods have smiled on us today. Bruno Mars has announced that his follow up to his Grammy winning debut album Doo Wops and Hooligans will be out before the year’s end. Unorthodox Jukebox will hit shelves (digitally and literally) on December 11th, with the sophomore album’s first single, Locked Out Of Heaven, to be released on Monday. Oh hellz to the yes.
Mars told Billboard Magazine that his new album represents freedom. “I’ve had big record label presidents look me in the face and say, ‘Your music sucks, you don’t know who you are, your music is all over the place, and we don’t know how to market this stuff. Pick a lane and come back to us,’” said Mars. “That was disgusting to me, because I’m not trying to be a circus act.”
Working with his writing trio the Smeezingtons, Mars also hit the studio with Mark Ronson, Jeff Bhasker, Emile Haynie, Diplo and Supa Dups. So ya, it’s gonna be amazing.
