Not only is Erykah Badu releasing one new album next year but – wait for it … wait for it – she’s releasing 2!

It’s a little confusing but Badu will be releasing 18 new tracks spread over 2 discs that will be sold separately. The idea sounds kinda tricky but WHO CARES?!?!??! Not me, I just wanna hear me some new music from Erykah.

The follow-up to her Worldwide Underground EP will be called Nu AmErykah and will feature production from Hip-Hop heavyweights 9th Wonder (who produced the first single “Honey”), Madlib, and the late great J Dilla.

Erykah told SOHH.com: “I dug deep down into the bottom of my hip-hop coin purse to find some of the freshest scientific, mathematical absurd geniuses that I could connect with because I was feeling pretty twisted myself.” If you don’t understand what the crud she’s talking about … that’s the point!!! This woman is on another level. Who else could’ve made Common wear printed-butterfly-collared-polyester shirts and those ill-advised tea-cozies?

Answer: No one.

The album is supposed to be out February 26th, 2008 … start looking for blunt objects to crack your piggy bank open with.
