Sunday night’s ‘NSYNC reunion at the MTV VMAs have sparked numerous discussions that clock in much longer that the groups 110 seconds on stage. Will the band reunite (no) and will JC Chasez attempt a second comeback (possibly).
While Chasez maintains that he’s currently focused on promoting his new girl group, we’d like to see a second member of the ‘NSYNC family on the charts again. But what are the odds that two members of a pop group can both have successful solo careers?
Take That: Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow both experienced solo career highs after Take That broke up in the mid-nineties.
Destiny’s Child: Though Kelly Rowland has shown some promise with her most recent album and Michelle Williams has experienced success on the gospel music circuit, both women will be hard pressed to ever hit Queen Bey levels. In all fairness, that goes for 99.99% of the world’s population, not just them.
Spice Girls: All five women took a swing at a solo career post-Spice Girls with Mel C and Geri Halliwell achieving some success away from the fivesome.
Backstreet Boys: After releasing solo albums that failed to make an impact on the charts, Nick Carter rejoined the Backstreet Boys and the band has since celebrated a number of successful reunion tours.
The Jonas Brothers: Both Joe and Nick Jonas tried their hand at solo albums, but the brothers have since reunited, releasing their fifth studio album this summer.
In conclusion, does JC Chasez have a shot at being the second successful member of ‘NSYNC to have a solo career? I think all we really need to do is remember this little diddy to get the answer. Hellz to the yes.
