Canadian musicians did us proud last night at the Grammy nomination event. Justin Bieber and Drake will compete against Florence and the Machine, Mumford and Sons and Esperanza Spalding for best new artist. That is just one of the four categories Drake is nominated in for the 2011 awards including best rap album.
Canadian rockers Arcade Fire are up for album of the year for The Suburbs next to Recovery by Eminem, Need You Now by Lady Antebellum, The Fame Monster by Lady Gaga and Teenage Dream by Katy Perry. They will also have two other chances to win awards in the best rock performance by a duo or group with vocals category and the best alternative music album category.
The nominations show aired on Wednesday night with performances from Justin Bieber, B.o.B, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Miranda Lambert and Train. The leaders going into the February 13 show are Eminem with 10 nominations, Bruno Mars with seven and Jay-Z, Lady Gaga and Lady Antebellum all with six.
