Carly Rae Jepsen has become known for the girl in like, with her huge break-out single Call Me Maybe all about falling for her crush. But with the announcement that Tonight I’m Getting Over You will serve as Jepsen’s next single from Kiss, the BC singer is ready to show a different side of her personality.
Tweeting that a video for the track will drop on Thursday, Jepsen also sent the message ‘”Tonight I’m Getting Over You” -Cut yourself loose! When u need to end it… END it. I promise I’ll dance with you babes. x’. The dance-heavy song is a departure from Jepsen’s bubble gum folk pop hit Call Me Maybe, showing versatility with her music.
In addition to celebrating the upcoming release of her new video, Jepsen can also add five JUNO nominations to her list of achievements this week. In addition to performing at the 2013 JUNO Awards on Sunday, April 21 in Regina, SK, Jepsen is up for Fan Choice Award, Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Pop Album of the Year. Jepsen will be going head to head with her mentor Justin Bieber in four of the categories. Bieber tweeted his congratulations to Jepsen following today’s nominee announcements, saying “nice! 4 nominations for the @TheJUNOAwards and @carlyraejepsen got 5. Everyone get ready to vote! #CANADA”.
