Carly Rae Jepsen sat down for an interview with Rolling Stone magazine recently and revealed some interesting facts about her super-mega-hit single Call Me Maybe. If you didn’t know already, Call Me Maybe was written with fellow Canadian star Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench and her guitarist Tavish Crowe. She told Rolling Stone, “It started like any song starts, just sort of a folky tune that I was playing while I was on the road with Tav. The lyrics came very easily. We weren’t really over-thinking it. We brought in Josh, and he helped us kind of pop-ify it. He’s really good. He’s got a little bit of pop genius in his blood. It was written, recorded and produced within four or five days, tops. It was a pretty easy song to write.”
Carly Rae also talked about working on her upcoming album which is in its beginning stages. Jepsen explained, “It’s not all the way finished right now, so it’s hard to kind of completely talk about it because I’m just discovering what it might be. But it’s definitely a fun process to be in the middle of working on it. Probably my favorite part of all of this is just writing and creating and dreaming up the story I want to tell through music.”
You can watch Carly Rae Jepsen and Marianas Trench perform at the 2012 MMVAs on Sunday, June 17 right here on MuchMusic. But until then you can watch the video for Call Me Maybe here.
