There’s something that happens to me every three-ish years. I start walking with purpose, with confidence, with my collar high and rear-view sunglasses planted on my face and a super cool cap gun in my purse. Every so often I dive behind pillars and shoulder roll to my chosen destination. I never fail to check both ways before crossing my enemies. Yes, I become a spy. And it’s all Bond’s fault.
Pierce Brosnan’s films amused me to no end. Denise Richards as a busty nuclear scientist?! COME ON!! Pierce was sly and suave, the first middle-aged man I wanted to jump. He was undoubtedly in my mind the second best Bond ever.
BUT NO MORE. People, in one movie, Daniel Craig is a BETTER BOND than Pierce ever was. He’s rugged and cold-hearted, yet warm and buttery at the same time. You don’t want him to rescue you in that “oh, James” way, but you’ll want him to save you and then drop you off on a busy street corner and before you know it, he’s gone to save the world again. “Who was that?” you’ll wonder in a daze. Let me tell you now, it’s the new and improved Bond, James Bond. NOW GO SEE CASINO ROYALE!
