jurydutymiss1

Hey Gang! Eddie Della Siepe from Video On Trial here with fellow V.O.T castmate Darrin Rose. We have been doing stand up across the country on the Jury Duty tour and having a blast! Our latest stop was Mississauga, Ontario.

Big D and I checked out the Mississauga tourism web site, and all we could find was malls (big up Square One!) and parks (big up Canada Geese!). Fortunately, our boy Trixx (yes, VoT!) had the inside scoop – when you’re looking for dopeness in ‘Sauga, check out arcade/ adventureland Playdium. It’s like an arcade from the 80s, except with games from the 90s.

Belly Comments on Michael Jackson

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Words can’t describe how sad I am right now. Michael Jackson practically raised me, like millions and millions of other people all over the world. When my family came to Canada in the early 90’s, we were singing Michael Jackson’s songs before we even knew how to speak english. He was known in all corners of the earth, and I can speak for everybody when I say he’ll be greatly missed and never forgotten. My heart goes out to his whole family, especially his 3 kids.

God Bless

Shad on Michael Jackson’s Passing

We play ‘Wanna be Startin Something’ and ‘PYT’ and all those joints when we go on the road. I think those might be the two most danceable songs ever.. I think everyone around my age got their sense of what pop music is period from Michael Jackson songs… and Mj is still the standard for live performance in pop and r&b… not to mention the videos… I think the music, the dancing, the videos - all of it just expanded our imaginations growing up. Jury Duty in Nova Scotia!

040609-lobsters
Hello From Halifax Nova Scotia! It’s Eddie Della Siepe and Darrin Rose from Video On Trial and we just finished the Eastern portion of Jury Duty, our national comedy tour.
We’ve sampled the fine delicacies on the East coast, which means lots of seafood - McDonalds even has a “McLobster” here! So many things have lobster in them even the Starbucks has a lobster latte. (j/k. That’s disgusting.)
I notice lobsters have disproportionately large claws, which must be heavy to carry around. Like a Soulja Boy necklace, but less ugly. Bling!
In the hotel, we were confronted by a slew of thirteen year-old die-hard Video On Trial fans. They were in town for a hockey tournament, and running around the hotel in their jammies. They were ecstatic to meet us and asked us all the typical V.O.T questions. Are we all in the same room? What was your favourite video to do? Can you introduce me to Trevor?
It was all good times!
Now we’re heading back to Ontario. Our next date is in London, April 23-25. For tour dates, check eddiedellasiepe.com. And because we want new Internet friends, check us out on Facebook – Eddie and Darrin.
Hopefully we’ll see you at a show! And remember, we love you.

Cute Is What We Aim For’s Tour Diary: Day Fifteen

Day 2 of our cross-Canadian adventure and everyone is smelly and bored. I am anxiously awaiting our arrival in Montreal where we can find real food and a good nights rest. Everyone else has their prerogatives, and I’m sure there will be plenty of action before the end of the evening since this is one of our last nights here in Canada.

It seems like such a long time ago that we played our first show in Halifax, and I’m starting to experience pangs of sadness as I think about leaving this tour. This has been the longest amount of time that most of us have ever been out of the US…Usually, a few weeks in a country is WAY too much. For example, if we spent this amount of time over in the UK, I might die from starvation and lack of sunlight. But here, the transition was relatively painless and the only real problem has been our astronomical cell phone bills (thanks Rogers!).

This might sound a tad shallow, but coming to Canada also made me realize you not only have beautiful landscapes, but beautiful women as well. Walking the streets of Montreal is heartbreaking for someone like me who has a girl back home. I routinely tell my girlfriend that she is the prettiest girl I know, and while I still firmly believe that, some of the women here in Canada have given her a run for her money : x

One more day of relaxation in Montreal and then the show. We’re right across the street from the Bell Centre and every few minutes I remember that we get to play there one more time. It makes me a little sad, but at the same time I can’t help be enthralled for even having this opportunity.

Bonsoir.

Cute Is What We Aim For’s Tour Diary: Day Fourteen

Friday, September 12th, 2008

cuteiswhat2.jpg

It’s almost nighttime here at the Kinniwabi Pines restaurant somewhere off of Highway 17. We stopped to grab a bite to eat, and it wasn’t until I sat down that I noticed I didn’t have enough Canadian money left for a meal. :x
So I retreated to posterior of the facility to check out the view and once again I was astonished to find a beautiful river with steeped cliffs on either side. Being American, I never learned that much about Canada. I know it gets really cold here, and that you gave birth to a man named Wayne Gretzky. What I didn’t know was how beautiful the entire country is. I drag myself out of bed before 12pm as many days as I can to take in the natural beauty that surrounds me, and everyone in our crew is doing the same. We’ve taken hikes, gone fishing and early one morning Shaant even managed to snag a picture of a moose. It seems like in this country there is a true appreciation for nature and preserving it, and I can only hope we take a little bit of that home with us.

After we fill up here we continue on our 2 day journey across Canada to our last show in Montreal. We played the Bell Centre only 2 weeks ago, so it’s going to be comforting to end the tour in a familiar place. Last night we had a pre-end of tour shindig at Shannon’s in Winnipeg. The night definitely did not go as planned, but it was nice to finally get everyone on the tour in the same room to bid farewell…

For now it’s just us and the road. The drive is brutal but we’ll keep in touch. See you in a few days.

Cute Is What We Aim For’s Tour Diary: Day Eleven

cute-is-what-we-aim-for-day-6.jpg

So, I am here in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan spending my time in Metro Station’s dressing room catching up on my online life…

It’s pretty chili up here these days and none of us expected it but I assure you that it is welcomed. Something happens within me when the weather changes and as the season transitions to the next. It brings in a new breath and with it, a fresh start to my routine. I feel with everything going on around us that change is a constant variable and it never fails in allowing us to evolve and to progress. So much so that I can say that I would not be content with things staying the same. Every day is a new city and a new set of beautiful faces I may have the pleasure of meeting. It’s magnificent.

You see, when I was growing I up I went to 6 schools in 2 different countries so this life style that I like to call ‘Pick up n’ go’ is all that I know.

It’s strange to think that even though I have bounced around my whole life, I have managed to be successful. I know that there are a million reasons in the form of people outside of my control that have contributed to this but I also know that without the burning fire that is the drive to obtain my goals, none of this would be a reality.

I look at it like this, at 21 I am not only fortunate enough to be employed and self sufficient but I am doing so by the wildest means, via a dream. I have the opportunity to play music each and every day of my life. I have the opportunity to see more than I could have ever imagined and at such a ripe age. I have the opportunity to meet and experience the cultures of thousands of people all over the world. These thoughts of realization and appreciation are kept closest to my heart and in return they encourage me to never give up. Never allow anyone to tell you that you are unable to do what you put your mind to. This may ring cliche but I assure you that it has been proven to me time and time again.

And that is my little rant for the day.
