So Live Earth has come and gone. Were you one of the reported 2 billion who watched from home? I don’t plan on adding my 2 cents about whether or not the concerts were a good idea, there will be plenty of that over the coming days. Bottom line - Global Warming is a worldwide problem that we should all be aware of. By now we all should at least be taking steps in our own daily lives to curb our energy consumption. That being said, I would like to comment on a few of the performances I happened upon, I didn’t see very much but here are my highlights and very very low lights.
Foo Fighters = Awesome (said in a Bill S. Preston, Esq. voice)
Jack Johnson = Radical (said in a Jeff Spicoli voice)
Fall Out Boy = S to the U to the C to the K to the E to the D (said like Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock) - sorry, I can name 30 bands from Atlantic Canada that kick this band’s ass live any day. Fall Out Boy, please go away.
Madonna = LAME (sung in a generic high pitched voice) - spitting out Motherfu@*er to the crowd and rock and rolling her guitar against her amp for feedback just looked stupid. With all due respect to that woman who deserves ALOT of it for her musical career… honey that was just weak.
The Police featuring Kanye West = MORE LAME (said in a Matt Wells asshole voice) - The Police and Kanye West both have more than made a case in their careers as meaningful and important artists. But this performance made me die a little bit inside. It was horrible. I though I was watching some dude rhyme for the first time trying to freestyle with a bunch of old dudes at the Red Knight Tavern in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Now THAT would have been entertaining, but not 2 incredibly relevant musical names wanking it up for an audience of billions around the world, even if it was for a great cause. Dudes, next time leave the rock and hip hop collaborations to the professionals, because it honestly made me wish Nelly and Tim Mcgraw would appear.
At least now for all the repeats of Live Earth I can do my part to conserve energy by turning off the TV before I ever have to witness this crime against my senses again. Oh Sting, I bet the Clash wouldn’t have done that to me.

Whew. That was a doozie! The show just ended a few moments ago with a stellar performance from The Police!
Wow, I am so happy that they played I Can’t Stand Losing You - an unexpected surprise that wasn’t listed in their set! I am pleased.
For their final song, Sting called out John Mayer to play with the band. For the record, I CANNOT hear Message In A Bottle without picturing/thinking about Guitar Hero 2. I also wonder how amazing John Mayer would be at GH2? He’s a pretty incredible guitar player! Oh, and Kanye West came out too, to perform a little interlude during the song.
So, what did you think? Did the concerts rock your socks? Whose performance was your favourite?
Justin also mentioned to me earlier a few impressive facts about MuchMusic’s involvement in today’s event - like the fact that all energy we used at MuchMusic HQ was green energy from Bullfrog Energy. And the bottled water we drank all day was in cornstarch containers that will actually biodegrade. And we tried to ‘re-use’ containers throughout the day - we were provided with Live Earth water flasks that we could refill ourselves.
I know a lot of the artists that were interviewed today at the various shows talked about how to get involved, and how they’re trying to make a difference in slowing down the earth’s decay…but what are YOU doing?
PS: Here are some of my favourite pics from all over the globe!
I love this one of Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters, totally rocking out with every cell in his body:

Pussycat Dolls take a bow at Wembley Stadium, London - click to rate this photo
So, we’re all allowed to have our guilty pleasures, okay, and you know what? I enjoy the Pussycat Dolls. This is not news. I like to play a little “Buttons” or “I Don’t Need A Man” and daaaaaance and dance. So fine, yes, I was looking forward to seeing their London set. And the only thing that let me down was how short-lived it was. MORE PUSSY! Can I say that out loud? Kat and I agreed that it’s high time to stick a PCD photo in our gym locker. Can these ladies release a workout tape, already? Sheeeit, just tape yourselves dancing and release it as an aerobicize-aganza. I’d buy it. And PS, did I ever mention how PCD Nicole told Hannah Simone that she’s 100% Jesus? Compliment indeed.
Speaking of Jesus (walks), I love Kanye West. This is also not new. Currently he’s ripping through “Golddigger” - he’s so passionate when he performs…le sigh. Excuse me while I lip sync like it’s hot…

We’re interviewing Cameron Diaz (we snapped the pic above using our camera phone just now)! She’s stunning and very behind the cause. Alicia Keys is performing during this interview and it’s a perfect backdrop. Cameron has been travelling and promoting the green movement so it’s so great to have some time with her!

Earlier today, Rihanna closed the show in Tokyo for Live Earth - although I was fast asleep during this performance, I’m hoping to be able to catch a few highlights throughout the day on CTV’s highlights coverage.
Here’s the setlist she played, and some pics of the smoking hot
performance for you to enjoy, in the meantime!

Madonna live at Wembley Stadium, London - click to rate this photo
The performance everyone in London at Wembley Stadium in London (and everyone watching at home!) has been waiting for…Madonna!
She’s just finishing up her last song, Hung Up. Her setlist went a little something like this:
Hey You
Ray Of Light
La Isla Bonita
Hung Up
Everyone here in the MuchMusic studio is GLUED to the television screens. Mariachi, tight choreography, hot dancers, strings section, gyrating with guitars…Madonna still has it all! I love the photo of her above with the words “give give give” in the background. It looks so gorgeous!
