The votes are in! Avril won the award for People’s Choice: Favourite Canadian Artist and thanked all her fans in a specially taped message all the way from Europe where she is currently on tour.

You wouldn’t know it from this pic, but she was ecstatic to win. Although she didn’t cry tears of joy this time (like she did last year when she won this very same award), she cracked some genuine smiles.

Nicely done, Avril - when it comes to the devotion of your fans, you truly are a force to be reckoned with.

- I love it when Sarah Taylor wears her hair straight. LOVE IT!

- How cute was it when Melanie C showed Leah Miller how to do the Running Man live on the presenter stage, in heels!?

- Tyler Connolly of Theory Of A Deadman is seriously afraid of heights. And he’s presenting People’s Choice - Favourite Canadian Artist from the rooftop balcony, which is dangerously high and scary…eep!

- How anxious am I for NKOTB’s performance?! I literally can’t wait. Their rehearsal at midnight last night was sooo good. I stood next to Jordan Knight in the hallway earlier (almost unknowingly) and I melted. Wait a minute…I thought I was a Donnie lover? Whoops.

What jokesters! Those Hedley boys always have a good time, and tonight is no exception! They just performed “Never Too Late” and it was so cute! Jacob was adorable strumming along with his acoustic guitar barefoot, Jack Johnson much?! Also, is that a bright pink fanny pack I see?

The night is passing by so quickly!

Holla! As your resident Dance Crew blogger, I’m happy to announce that dance crew extraordinaire, JabbaWockeeZ, just put on a KILLER performance. Bustin’ it out to Kanye’s “Stronger” (like they did on the finale of Season 1’s America’s Best Dance Crew), the boys did not disappoint. Due to the rain, the stage is a slippery mess, but they still managed to pull of some crazy moves (did you see that headspin?!). The crowd loved it and so did I.

Somewhere Randy Jackson is smiling…

Did anyone else just see this song start with Akon’s mic not near his mouth? Talk about Dangerous! Hm! Whatever, I’m loving this song, Kardinal Offishall simply knows how it is done. Good times.

Who doesn’t love a little medley? Sean Kingston just performed “Take You There” and “There’s Nothing”, this year’s summer songs? Maybe! Sean’s looking spiffy with his preppy yellow shirt and sweater vest accessorized with a touch of bling and his female counterpart (who is she?) is looking pretty good herself. Their little duet was soo cute!

3 great performances down, a whole bunch more fun to come!

illScarlett are up on the roof performing “Nothing Special”! Good thing the rain just stopped, things could have gotten electric in a bad way! The song ends with fireworks and a bit of an equipment trash!

Here we go!!! 2008 MMVAs are a go - starting of with Flo Rida preforming “Low” flying in on…A ZIP LINE!? The man knows how it is done! Seems like it has stopped raining and everyone is partying it up, including the backup dancers!

Simple Plan have now joined the stage adding in their own rock flavor! They’ve kicked into “When I’m Gone” and Pierre has go the crowd singing along and arm waving like pros!

The night has officially started! It’s gonna be a good one folks! With the rain not holing us back it’s going to be a night to remember indeed!

8:06pm - Simple Plan are here and if Hedley wins any awards instead of them, they said they will steal it. DRAMA!

8:07pm - And Steve and Cone of Sum 41 just arrived wearing New Kids On The Block t-shirts! Their favourites are Joey and Danny. Good to know.

8:13pm - Rainn Wilson is here as well, taking pics with the fans, taking his time meeting everyone. Totally nice. And he just called Devon “cute as a button.” Ha!

8:16pm - Kristin Cavallari just took her stroll over the red rug in a nice strapless dress. It’s her first time ever in Toronto. Welcome, Kristin! Wait - she just filmed a movie with Parker Posey?! Grrr. So jealous….

8:21pm - Sean Kingston has rolled with so much bling around his neck… he must have the brute strength of an ox, carrying that much flashy-flash. Impressive….

8:22pm - The judges of So You Think You Can Dance Canada (with our very own Leah Miller) have arrived, only to be interrupted in their interview with Devon by massively loud thunder. Stay away, rain! (”Rain” as in weather… not as in Wilson. We like him. He can stay.)

8:24pm - Melanie C is here! And she loves Canada because we’ve “been so good to her.” Aw, sweet.

8:25pm - Jesse McCartney is on the carpet, umbrella in hand. Actually, there are umbrellas everywhere! Will Rihanna have one…? We can only hope, just so someone can make a bad “umbrella ella ella” joke.

OMFG! Torrential downpour!!!

8:30pm - The boys of Hedley have just arrived in this crazy storm on bicycles, san umbrellas and san shirts!

8:32pm - Somehow Perez Hilton avoided the rain and is now in the lobby… hmmmm

8:35pm - Aw, Robin Antin and the girls of Girlicious, throwing around words like “grateful” and “it felt like a dream.” But they are saying they all love each other. Do we believe them?

8:38pm - Girls are going crazy since Brody Jenner has arrived… he’s signing autographs like a pro.

8:39pm - Everyone’s favourite dance crew, the JabbaWockeeZ are in the lobby! Without their masks! The world will now implode!

8:45pm - CHAOS!!!! Belly just got here, dressed in white, head to toe. And now Chace Crawford is getting totally mauled by girls. Like, totally groped. Yet his hair remains perfectly tousled…

8:48pm - Ha! Kardinal Offishall and Akon just showed up in a big new TTC bus! He’s riding the rocket - the better way. LOL. How humble. Funny, that’s how I got here today as well… and now they are grinding on up Hannah. Hehe - hilarious.

8:54pm - Chace Crawford meets Hannah and it’s a total OMG moment as they LOL.

Ah! That all went by too quickly! But the show is now starting…. ENJOY!!!!!!!!!
