Tom Felton stopped by MOD last night also greeted by many adoring fans, and gosh is that young man ever so nice! Nothing like that meanie Draco Malfoy. He must get that a lot. He chatted about the up-and-coming-can’t-wait-until-it-is-out Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, as well as the process he has to undergo in order to get his hair that Slytherin bleach blond!

District 9 trailer! Intense!

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

If you live in Toronto or another big city, you might have seen some of the posters that say “FOR HUMANS ONLY” with instructions on reporting non-humans. I didn’t get it and was feeling confused until I saw the new trailer for District 9.

I get it now! The aliens are refugees! This looks so good! Most action movies are just action action action hey let’s blow this and that up etc, but District 9 seems to be bringing in a strong story line and idea. Great job! Can’t wait until August 14th! What do you think of the trailer? Have you seen these posters around?

Harry Potter News

Monday, July 6th, 2009

9 days until Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince! 3 days until Tom Felton is at Much!

Are all you muggles excited?! I know I am! In the spirit of the new Harry Potter film coming out July 15th and Tom Felton being on MOD this Wednesday I bring you a special news edition, Harry Potter style!

* My favorite ginger, Rupert Grint had swine flu! But don’t worry he’s okay now.

* Tom Felton sings! And he isn’t the worst at it! His songs are actually rather adorable and sweet. Who would have thought the evil boy had it in him?

* Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint are funny guys!

* Emma Watson has grown into such a beautiful young woman! And a smart one at that!

* More news about the The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park! There’s going to be a “robocoaster”? Sounds cool to me!

Ode to the Indie Film

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Soooo, middle of the afternoon, hum drum, boredom is setting in, and outside is looking gloomy. What to do to keep the tears away? I’ve got your answer. Kate M. pointed this out to me last week, and since it amused me enough that I watched it 75 times, now I’m thinking maybe you’ll like it, too.

What with the recent uproar/uprising of the indie flick, quirky movies by indie writers, and generally all things shiny and happy, I thought we should take a second to appreciate the past. Guys and gals, the 90 second clip above is a tongue-in-check salute to the Indie Film that is adorable in it’s witty sarcasm. Which is probably the whole point.

What other indie movie feature do you think they missed in this spoof/recap? Inside-joke dialogue? Road trips? Doomed love stories? Llamas?

Jennifer’s Body: Le Trailer

Monday, July 6th, 2009

There are two sides to the Megan Fox argument right now. No, three.

Argument 1: Oh my god, I hate her.
Argument 2: Oh my god, I want to do her.
Argument 3: You know, maybe she could be ok, with the right direction and once she shuts up a little.

I’m somewhere in the “not-paying-attention” category, but Diablo Cody has entered the situation and this means I must invest some attention. Say what you will about Diabs, but I think she’s got a fresh, funny mind (and her Tweets are top notch). The United States of Tara proves that she’s no one-trick Pony, either. Thus, I’m all over her upcoming horror movie - I’ll pass on the generic creepy thrillrides but any horror flick with sass, humour and smarts is AWESOME by me. Check out the trailer!

Fame trailer is Fame-azing!

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

I already love this movie.

Take that High School Musical! Fame forever! This movie is a re-make of the 1980s movie which inspired a TV series, a reality show, and then stage musical. And now we are back to film again! Woohoo! Also! Kherington Payne from season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance is in this! She plays the dancer.

As I love me a good musical (I actually just watched the trailer five times in a row) I am quite excited about this. What about you guys? Are musicals your thang? Love ‘em or hate ‘em?

Funny People looks very funny!

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

The new Judd Apatow film Funny People looks hilarious; His past films 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up were great, and this time he’s adding something else to the mix. Apatow explained in a recent interview saying, “It is more emotional than my other two films, but if you hate emotions you will still like it. And most people do hate emotions.” Apatow is also doing some amazing viral marketing. There’s almost a website for every character. Check it out.

Adam Sandler’s character, George Simmons, is a comedian. On his website, you can watch clips of movies he has stared in, including “Re-Do” and “Dog’s Best Friend”.

Jason Schwartzman’s character is an actor named Mark Taylor Jackson. You can go to his website to read about how he participated in a hot air balloon fiesta or head over to the Yo Teach! (Mark Taylor Jackson’s TV show about a cool teacher helping out the kids) website and watch clips from the show.

Aziz Ansari character is a foul mouthed comedian named Randy who’s got his own DJ/hype man. You can watch videos of his stand up and play on the Randy soundboard.

See what I mean? They are going all out. The dedication to every detail is amazing. Love it. What site is your favorite? Are you going to go see Funny People when it comes out July 31st?
