The JUNO Awards can now be celebrated year-round with the launch of JUNO TV. The first of its kind in Canada, JUNO TV will feature exclusive interviews, performances and more from Canadian musicians and experts.
The online channel’s exclusive programming, produced by The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), will showcase Canada’s vibrant music scene and ensure the JUNO Awards celebration continues 365 days a year. JUNO TV’s videographer, Ben Knechtel, made a huge impact on Canadian music when he won a 2012 MMVA for Video of the Year for Carly Rae Jepsen’s international hit Call Me Maybe.
The online channel will feature four programs, including STRANDED, in which today’s hottest artists talk about five things they can’t live without, TAKE TWO, where iconic artists discuss defining JUNO moments, THE EXPERTS, featuring Canada’s entertainment movers and shakers offering their candid insights, and VINTAGE VIDS, which will unearth classic JUNO Awards performances and other highlights. Dragonette, Rick Mercer, Alan Cross, Maestro Fresh Wes and The Bahamas are the first list of artists and experts to be featured on JUNO TV.
This year’s JUNO Awards will take place in Regina, SK on Sunday, April 21. The host for this year’s 42nd Annual JUNO Awards will be announced during a 30-second promo that will premiere during CTV’s broadcast of SUPER BOWL XLVII this Sunday, February 3. Past hosts of the JUNO Awards include Shania Twain, Russell Peters, William Shatner and Drake.
