Jay Malinowski has taken on many different genres throughout his career, from fronting the reggae-influenced punk band Bedouin Soundclash to his indie-pop stint in Armistice, but the musician has taken yet another turn on his new project, Jay Malinowski & The Deadcoast.
Leading up to the release of Martel, his debut album as Jay Malinowski & The Deadcoast, Malinowski put out a series of letters written from the perspective of Malinowski’s grandfather, which forms the narrative behind this highly ambitious concept album. But it pays off as we follow the band on an 18-track journey that’s filled with personal lyrics and uplifting melodies. It can be tough to keep up with Malinowski’s ever-changing styles of music, but we guarantee you that it’s worth every moment of this album.
Best Tracks: Donzoko Blues (April’s Fool), Cool Ruler (In the Grace of Love)
