Check out the top 5 performances at last night’s American Music Awards

The American Music Awards was last night and it was jam-packed with performances from some of today’s biggest music stars. From pop veterans like Christina Aguilera to newcomers Carly Rae Jepsen and The Wanted, the night provided a variety of acts and each one dazzled in their own way. Here, we count down some of our favourite performances of the night!

1. Psy
Hands down, Korean star Psy gave the best performance of the night. He’s rendition of his viral song Gangnam Style was a hit with everyone in the audience and the addition of special guest MC Hammer just pushed the whole show over the top, in the best way possible. This was the only performance that definitely got everyone up on their feet and dancing along, Gangnam Style.

2. Ke$ha
It feels like it’s been so long since we last saw our favorite party-rock girl, Ke$ha. But fear no more, the pop star is back with a new album and a new song, which she performed last night at the American Music Awards. Die Young was a YOLO-filled dance jam that not only got us dancing in our seats, but it’s a swift reminder that Ke$ha’s back and better than ever.

3. Christina Aguilera
Sure, some artists performed two songs last night at the American Music Awards, but Christina Aguilera proved that she’s still on top of her game by performing not one, not two, but three songs. The Voice coach, who recently released a new album entitled Lotus performed a medley of three songs – Lotus, Army of Me and Let There Be Love which Aguilera prefaced by telling the crowd, “This is a celebration of all of us,” reinforcing the self-esteem tooting message that she’s been promoting. And boy did that performance seriously energize us! We’re ready to kick some ass after watching that!

4. Justin Bieber
Even though Justin Bieber must still be reeling from a recent break-up with ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez, he definitely didn’t show any signs of heartbreak last night at the American Music Awards. The Canadian pop darling performed an acoustic, stripped-down version of his hit As Long As You Love Me, followed by a super energetic rendition of Beauty and the Beat featuring a guest appearance by Nicki Minaj.

5. Nicki Minaj
Our favourite pink-haired rapper/singer took the stage last night, looking ready for winter. Wearing a white fur jacket, furry boots and white hot shorts Minaj performed her song Freedom on a white winter wonderland set. For her dramatic finale, she even brought out a full gospel choir to sing with her. Hallelujah to that!
