Horror film writer Oren Peli’s latest film Chernobly Diaries follows a group of thrill-seeking tourists who find themselves stranded in the city of Prypriat, where the devastating Chernobly nuclear disaster took place in 1986. The tourists quickly learn that they’re not alone in the abandoned city and in typical Peli-fashion, viewers spend the film in terrifying anticipation of where the next ‘bump in the night’ will come from.
MuchMusic.com sat down with Peli to find out how the Paranormal Activity and Insidious writer makes his films so darn scary.
Chernobly Diaries opens in theatres on Friday, May 25th, but you can get your thrills early by attending one of the special 10 pm ET screenings taking place this Thursday, May 24th at select cinemas across Canada. Check out www.chernobyldiaries.com for listings.
