Here’s the thing, for someone like Chris Brown, who is kind of hater prone (lets be honest, he usually brings it on himself), he really had to hit this rap mixtape out of the park. My thing is that people shouldn’t do something just to do it, especially if they’re not supposed to do it. When you’re not supposed to do something, most people aren’t cheering for you to succeed but waiting for you to fall flat. ‘Boy In Detention’ fell somewhere between a triumph and a disappointment which is a pretty wide spectrum, so I’ll say that this mixtape is no worse than the other mixtapes to come out this week but not a whole lot better. Like I said in a previous post, Chris Breezy needed to stick to rapping for this rap mixtape to really prove that he’s got flows and not just Big Sean’s super-duper flow. Having said that, when you’re pulling in artists like Big K.R.I.T., Justin Bieber, Tyga, Wiz Khalifa, 9th Wonder, David Banner, and newcomer Kevin McCall to work on an experimental mixtape – it’s a very good sign. Anyway, I did like a bunch of songs but listen and decide for yourself. Can you tell I’m on the fence about this mixtape?
