Christina Aguilera’s warning at the beginning of her new video for Your Body stating that ‘No men were harmed in the making of this video’ may seem a bit strange at first, but is definitely necessary. The pop diva plays a man killer in the video, seducing her prey before murdering the men. From blowing them up to taking a baseball bat to their heads, Aguilera’s victims all lose their lives to the singer in a gruesome way.

Keeping the video tongue in cheek by using blue paint and pink confetti to represent her victim’s blood, Aguilera dons a variety of outfits in Your Body that are best described as looking like Forever 21 has thrown up on the pop diva. Shifting from a mobile home in a desert to a run down bar to a run down motel, the setting for Your Body give off a seedy look to the video, contrasted with Aguilera’s over the top brightly coloured outfits and hair.

As the first single off Aguilera’s upcoming album Lotus, Your Body puts The Voice coach back in fighting shape to regain her spot at the top of the pop charts. But the fun video doesn’t sit quite right with me, knowing that if the roles were reversed and Aguilera was a man, every human rights group would be calling foul over the video’s graphic content.
