Before They Were Stars!
October 1st, 2012
Christina Aguilera appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last week to talk about her new album Lotus and taking a hiatus from The Voice. While describing her new album, Aguilera said “It’s all about freedom. This album, this record, it’s for my fans. It’s coming back and loving life and being positive.”
Though her hit reality singing show has been renewed for two more seasons, Aguilera and her Voice co-star Cee Lo Green have both announced that they will not be appearing on Season 4. Said Christina, “I think what makes the show really special and what makes people appreciate it is that the four of us are artists. We have to go out there and we have to experience our fans, do our shows, record our records and be artists ourselves.”
Aguilera, now 31, is not only calling the shots on her new album, but also with regards to her image. Said the powerhouse singer when discussing conversations with her record label about the promotion of Lotus, “You are working with a fat girl. Know it now and get over it. They need a reminder sometimes that I don’t belong to them. It’s my body.”
Aguilera has received quite a bit of criticism over the past year with regards to her weight while appearing on The Voice. But Christina has put herself in the driver’s seat of her career, saying “My body can’t put anyone in jeopardy of not making money anymore. My body is just not on the table that way anymore.”
UPDATE: Christina Aguilera’s rep is now reporting that the quotes taken from his client about her body and weight are not real. Either way, she looks good.
You can watch Christina Aguilera and her killer bod every Wednesday night at 8 pm ET on The Voice.Tweet
