Cloverfield: The Party Mix

I saw Cloverfield last week and actually quite enjoyed it. Where some people were let down or felt dizzy and nauseous, I was enthusiastically going along for the ride.

So yes we saw the monster, we ran through NYC, and we saw some explosions, but what was really important was the party music! You know, that lil’ party at the beginning of the movie that was there purely for that fancy thing called “character development” - it actually had some decent songs in the background. And if you ever felt yourself bored by the superficial yearnings and issues of the yuppie 20-somethings before they were all crushed and ripped apart (and in one case actually self-exploded), and were more drawn to that awesome indie tune-age playing in the background, then here’s the list for you. Hypeful.com has compiled Rob’s Party Mix and it’s definitely a good one.

ROB’S PARTY MIX:
Coconut Records - “West Coast”
Kings of Leon - “Taper Jean Girl”
Sean Kingston - “Beautiful Girls”
The Blood Arm - “Do I Have Your Attention”
Scissors For Lefty - “Got Your Moments”
Parliament - “Give Up the Funk”
Gorillaz - “19-2000″
Spoon - “The Underdog”
Kings of Leon - “Pistol of Fire”
Architecture in Helsinki - “Do The Whirlwind”
The Black Keys - “Grown So Ugly”
Bright Eyes - “Four Winds”
Joan As Policewoman - “The Ride”
Ratatat - “Seventeen Years”
Of Montreal - “Wraith Pinned To The Mist and Other Games”

Who knew that, in the end, the one redeeming characteristic of these characters would be their taste in music?

  2. I gotta see this movie now!

  3. I saw this movie the day it came out, it freaked me out so much. Though it is really freaky, Rob’s Best-friend, the guy who’s taping it all, keeps humour into it, its definatley a must-see.
