Coachella isn’t out of Indio, California just yet

July 6th, 2012

Yesterday we reported that Coachella was going to move out of Indio, California following an initiative started by the state to impose a ticket tax which would increase ticket prices by nearly $40 on top of the over $300 ticket. The state has recanted the idea and Sam Torres, the council member who spearheaded the tax hike, said that “I don’t take a threat by Paul Tollett [the owner Goldenvoice, the company that produces Coachella] lightly.” Torres also expressed a sense of regret saying, “I cannot in good conscience allow this to happen no matter how dire the city’s circumstance. My sincere hope is that we can now move past this episode and I personally look forward to working to enhance relationships.”

Phew! Thank goodness that is over because we think it wouldn’t be Coachella if it weren’t in Indio. If the fest had to move, where would you put it? Let us know in the comments section below.
