Conan O’Brien is ready to make the jump from talk show host to serious actor and is doing so with a small part in SyFy’s upcoming film Sharktopus Vs. Pteracuda. The famous comedian is so intent on having his work recognized that he’s rented a 60 foot billboard in downtown Los Angeles, calling for attention from the Emmys, the Oscars, and the BAFTAs.
Not only that, but O’Brien has also paid for a full page spread in the prestigious Hollywood Reporter magazine, touted as ‘the bible of the industry’ by Conan.
The raven haired host is also getting some big endorsements for his role in the upcoming film, with famed director Martin Scorsese taking out an additional ad in the same issue of THR. In his full-page ad, Scorsese writes “Your work in Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda is, in a word, sublime. Your friend, Martin Scorsese.” Looks like Scorsese has a new golden boy, eh DiCaprio?
The film premieres August 2 at 9E/6P on the SyFy network. Yes, it’s an actual film. We were shocked as well.
Before he quits his day job to become a Hollywood A-list actor, you can still watch Conan every Monday to Thursday at 12E/9P on MUCH.Tweet
