A big congratulations to our friends at Epitome Pictures for their GLAAD nominations! Announced this morning, both Degrassi and The L.A. Complex were nominated in the category of Outstanding Drama Series. Rounding out the list of nominees are Grey’s Anatomy, True Blood and Smash. GLAAD describes these series as presenting “fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues affecting their lives,” on television.
The two series, both shot in Toronto and made by Canadian studio Epitome Pictures, have been groundbreaking in their portrayal of gay and transgender characters on television. Degrassi is no stranger GLAAD’s Media Awards, racking up five nominations since 2004.
Don’t miss the return of new episodes of Degrassi on Friday, February 15 at 9E/6P on MUCH and click here to catch up on episodes from Season 12.
