Emeli Sande and Conor Maynard, two of the biggest new artists of the year, are set to received the Silver Clef Best Newcomer in London on June 29. The silver Clef awards raise funds for the charity Nordoff-Robbins, which provides music therapy for adults and children.
Sande, a former medical student who left her studies to pursue music, is an ambassador for Nordoff Robbins Scotland. Emeli plans on donating proceeds from the ticket sales of her upcoming show at the Glasgow Clyde Auditorium to the charity.
Maynard, who is set to present at this Sunday’s MMVAs, has had a banner year with award ceremonies. In addition to winning the Silver Clef Best Newcomer award, Conor beat out artists Lana Del Ray, King Charles, Clement Marfo, and The Frontline and Angel to win MTV’s Brand New for 2012.
