There is a fine art to covering music. One wants to stay true to the original, while also making the song their own. Then comes the choice of the song. Do you reinvent an old favorite, or take a top 40 hit to another level? When a cover is done wrong it can be disappointing and upsetting, when it’s done right its preeeeeeetttty awesome. Here are some new covers out there that are the more then just okay!
Gaslight Anthem Does Not Hook Up
One of my favorite new bands coving one of my favorite poppy songs out right now. Listen. Yeah I got chills too.
Florence and the Machine Can See Your Halo
Up and coming indie star Florence and the Machine proves she’s got Beyonce’s vocal chops. I’m also currently obsessed with Florence and the Machine so I recommend hear her angelic voice singing some of her own music.
Viva La Gaga
Lady Gaga coving the Coldplay classic, completely making it her own with just her voice and her piano. Messes up and changes words (“Be my Chris and I’ll be your Gwyneth”). Love it.
Chris Daughtry has a Poker Face
Daughtry isn’t usually my cup of tea, but I’m into this! Maybe it’s just because I love Lady Gaga but he really does a good job of adding his own flavor to the song. Dudes got a voice!
Any I’ve missed? Let me know!

kate the Gaslight Anthem version of I Don’t Hook Up is amazing, ten times better than the original. And i agree with you on Daughtry covering Lady Gaga. I can’t stand the guy but the cover is great!
