If you’ve been waiting for shoeravers Cut Copy to follow-up 2008′s awesome In Ghost Colours, well, the waiting will be for only a few more months.

The Australian trio have announced they’ll be releasing their third album, Zonoscope, on February 8, 2011.

In an interview with Spin, Tim Hoey says the band are mixing a lot more organic sounds into the electronic ones.

“We certainly are using all sorts of electronic instruments, more synthesizers, computers, all of that, but contrasted with more organic sounds, more organic percussion,” says Hoey. “Since [frontman] Dan [Whitford] came across the image a few months ago, he’s stuck with it, and thought that it summed up what we wanted to get across.”

The image he’s referring to is the album cover below, which was designed by the late Japanese photo montage artist Tsunehisa Kimura.

In the interview, Hoey also says Cut Copy’s one-off single “Where I’m Going,” which they released earlier this year, will appear on the album in a different version.

“It’s got a pop music element, which runs throughout every Cut Copy song or album,” he explains. “I thought it was actually great to put out first from the record. “There’s actually a new mix of that song on the album which is more like the original vision we had for that song: more chant-y, kind of tribal, and probably less pop than the version that came out a couple of months ago.”
