I’m back! Yes, after two weeks lost in the wilds of Europe I am back on Canadian soil. And what better to do while back here than buy records? I find the act of hangin’ out in record stores comforting, so much so that whenever possible on tour I try to make it in to a record store. The same is true when I get home from tour, the smell of old vinyl decompresses me in a way few other things can. I think it centres me because I associate record stores with so many great memories and not just the time I got the Project X 7″, or the time I got 100 amazing records for a buck each, but just the hours spent flipping through “the stacks” thinking about music. Maybe it’s the universality of the experience or maybe it’s just because I have an addiction but I find it very easy to escape from your problems when you are surrounded by used records.
This week for the show we are going to be doing just this at a record store called Hits And Misses and talking about some great new videos (and showing them obviously) by Coeur de Pirate, Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, The Black Keys, Mates of State and My Bloody Valentine. So tune in and enjoy… and buy records.
