Finale next week!
March 24th, 2008
The perfect long-weekend combination? Mini-Eggs and the latest episode of America’s Best Dance Crew. Apparently Ashley Tisdale thinks the same thing (but sans Mini-Eggs, of course).

Only 3 teams left! Status Quo, Kaba Modern and JabbaWockeeZ. But which is the team that is currently in the lead and a shoo-in for the finale next week…? Status Quo!
Um, WHAT?! WHAT?! WHAT?! I for sure thought that the finale would consist of Kaba Modern and JabbaWockeeZ, but I guess I’ve been learn’ed… very interesting indeed.
Now on with the dancing! This week’s episode: The Evolution of Street Dancing.
Part 1 – Status Quo

Ok, FINE! Make me like you, Status Quo! That routine was actually a lot of fun. This week’s challenge obviously put you back into your element. Amazing flips, amazing locking, amazing popping and amazing God-knows-whating. Thank you for finally conveying to me why everyone seems to loves you. And instead of relying on just your stunts, you actually kind of danced this week, and you danced well. Nicely, nicely done. Do I still think you should be in the Final 2? Not fully – but let’s see what the other Crews have up their sleeves as well… But first to the judges:
Shane: “Y’all was voted number one right now. Choreography-wise, it didn’t kill me this week. Stunt-wise, y’all smashed. But y’all gotta tighten it up.”
JC: “Your task was the locking and I think you accomplished that well so that was cool to watch. The flipping was great because it was everything, but it was a bit chaotic. I love your guys’s story because you literally left your house and came to do this show with nothing. I’ve very proud of you for that.”
Lil Mama: “I’ve very proud you guys have made it this far. I don’t know who you are going to go up against, but whoever you go up against, always remember you are competing, never forget that – but don’t get sloppy on me. Please.”
Part 2 – JabbaWockeeZ

Oh JabbaWockeeZ – this was good. It kept me entertained, but at the same time I feel like I’ve seen it all before. Status Quo does stunts and flips but this week they pulled out all the stops. You guys do your bouncing and locking and all that jazz, but this week I feel you didn’t pull out all the stops. It all seemed a little “same old same old.” Now that being said, that final head spin was killer. And hyping up the crowd like that is always a good thing. That studio audience LOOOOVES you. But does the audience at home…?
JC: “What I loved from that performance that you let it all hang out. You let nothing go. You covered every base. It was a fantastic performance. Totally, totally blown away.”
Lil Mama: “When it comes to creativity, you guys definitely had that. Y’all really brought something new to the table and I respect that. Like for real y’all, when someone excites me, they excite me.”
Shane: “JabbaWockeeZ – Y’all just set the standard for the next 10 seasons. Y’all just ripped it.”
OK – what is wrong with me? Was I watching a different performance than the judges? I mean, I do love my JabbaWockeeZ, but maybe they’re just starting to bore me…? I dunno. Maybe these Mini-Eggs of mine are laced with something.
Part 3 – Kaba Modern

Something about this group makes me happy. They are so much fun to watch. Their choreography is always interesting. They don’t do the stunts, so they are forced to rely solely on their dancing, and they
really go for it. This was so high-energy and a bit different from their previous work. Much more leg-work, bigger moves, and much more traveling. I feel this was the first time the story of the evolution of hip-hop was actually being told. Overall, a success.
Lil Mama: “The walk-through, the evolution, was crazy. Y’all walked us through so smooth, a 2-year old wouldn’t need Mario to explain what was going on. It was phenomenal.”
Shane: “The good thing about this group is it seems everyone dances at the same level. That’s a big plus – it shows y’all work hard in rehearsal and that’s the number one thing for me. I want to commend y’all on going through, making it smooth, still adding y’all own flavour to it, staying true to yourself and giving a great, great performance at the end of the show.”
JC: “I love that these two groups are going head-to-head because both of you groups are so talented it is mind-blowing. Both of you groups are really, really special. It’s just fun to watch. You guys are amazing. You girls are the last girls here and you represented girls so well and your team compliments you. I love watching you guys dance.”
Part 4 – Elimination & Status Quo (again)
So the judges now have to choose between Kaba Modern or JabbaWockeeZ. Eek – I would not want to be one of the judges right now. That’s a tough job. I’d be so torn between these amazing two Crews. I’m guessing JabbaWockeeZ will stay – I’m thinking they would be better suited to go up against Status Quo. (However, I’m secretly hoping that Kaba Modern gets the stay… Ssssshhhh).
The results…? JabbaWockeeZ is in the Finals!
(Bye Kaba Modern… Buh-bye…)
But now Status Quo and JabbaWockeeZ must go head-to-head in the Encore Round where these final 2 teams got to create their “Ultimate Performance.” They get to create their own music, choreography, everything. This should be interesting…
First up: Status Quo.

Um – that was it? Ok – I’m not liking Status Quo again. That was 1 minute of just costumes and colours. Agreed?
Part 5 – JabbaWockeeZ (again)
Now JabbaWockeeZ’ “Ultimate Performance.”

That was MUCH better than Status Quo, I feel. It was concise, together, and had a clear point-of-view. If the final winner was based on just these two performances, then JabbaWockeeZ will take home the gold.
So it’s obvious that I think JabbaWockeeZ should win this whole damn thing. What do you guys think? Lemme have it.
