Darren’s New Music Blog

August 23rd, 2011

Hello boys and girls!

Back with another NEW music dose for you.  This time I’m going to focus on electronic music.  So grab your glow sticks and soothers!

I’m going to start with an artist I saw tear it up @ Tomorrowland Festival in Belgium at the end of July. (check out last years video . Just a gong show!   Anyways, Wolfgang Gartner played the main stage (pictured above) on day 2.

His latest video just arrived last week and it features your boyfriend from the Black Eyed Peas…will.i.am.   The track is titled “Forever” and the video is pretty jokes!

I’m gonna stay with Tomorrowland and shout-out some home grown talent that I bumped into backstage…Keith from the Toronto based Autoerotique did a dirty set on the last day.  His stage wasn’t quite as large as the main stage, but it did feature a rotating dj booth, which was pretty cool.  Autoerotique are on Steve Aoki’s label Dim Mak Records.  Steve Aoki was also there.  If you like the dance music, you should check out Steve Aoki live at least once.  He loves his alcohol, so his shows are usually high energy!

Lastly, I want to put it out there that I will be in attendance at Electric Zoo in NYC over the long weekend.  3 days of just awesomeness.  Everybody who’s anybody in the dance world is gonna be there. Headliners are Tiësto, David Guetta and Armin van Buuren.   I’m amped to check out Diplo, Calvin Harris, Richie Hawtin (Canadian electronic music pioneer), Bloody Beetroots, Jaytech, Afrojack, and Chromeo (Canada really representing!).  Also on the bill is Mr. dubstep, Skrillex.  Deadmau5 signed Skrillex to his label over a year ago and MuchMusic finally got a video….and holy shit it’s terrifying/amazing….Check it out

I’ll be back with a detailed report of Electric Zoo in early September.  Until then, enjoy what’s left of the summer!

-Darren
