The students of Degrassi prepare to say good bye to one of their own, but Drew isn’t ready to let go of his younger brother yet. Find out what happened on tonight’s emotional summer season finale of Degrassi under the jump.
It’s the day of Adam’s funeral and Drew looks like he’s in a daze. Dallas, Eli, Bianca and Becky are standing together outside of the church when Becky says that maybe Adam died because Jesus wanted him close. Bianca is upset by the comment and Becky instantly regrets it.
Becky walks over to Bianca and Drew to apologize, but Drew doesn’t want her apology. He wants instead to lay the blame of his brother’s death on Becky, who Adam was texting when he died. Distraught that she may have been the cause for Adam’s death, Becky declines Dallas’ offer to take her to the reception for Adam’s funeral.
Alli and Jenna see Becky crying on the bench outside the Church and Becky tells the girls that Drew thinks Adam’s death is Becky’s fault. Jenna suggests that Becky remember her faith and talk to Adam in heaven any time she wants and even apologize to him for the fight they had before his death. Jenna’s pep talk gives Becky the idea to throw a bonfire for Adam so that everyone who knew him can say goodbye.
Eli goes to see Clare in her hospital room following the funeral and they decide to make a memorial video for Adam so that people can remember the happy and positive person he was.
Clare’s mother interrupts their editing session with news that Clare’s CT Scan came back clear, meaning the cancer is out of her body and she’s in remission. Eli and Mrs. Edwards are ecstatic, but Clare seems to be in shock.
Dallas, Bianca, Imogen and Dave are trying to lift Drew’s spirits at the reception, but everyone feels like they’re saying the wrong things.
Bianca follows a distraught Drew outside and learns that Drew blames himself for Adam’s death. He was the last person Adam talked to and thinks he should have done something to stop Adam from getting into the truck. Bianca tells Drew about the bonfire that night, saying that it may help him to go, but all Drew wants is his brother back.
Wanting to be alone, Drew begins wandering the streets of Toronto, distraught over Adam. He sees the messages people have posted for Adam online and watches the tribute video that Eli and Clare made for his little brother.
Alli, Jenna, and Connor are helping Becky get ready for the bonfire and Becky is worried that no one will show up because it was her that posted the invite on Facerange and Drew hates her.
After hours of waiting, Becky wants to start putting out the fire.
And that’s when it happens. Everyone who loved Adam arrives at the bonfire to pay their respect.
Even Bianca offers Becky a hug and a supportive shoulder.
Eli goes to pick Clare up at the hospital for the bonfire and she’s still in pyjamas. Adam got Clare through her cancer and she feels guilty that she lived and Adam died. Eli reminds Clare that Adam would never want Clare to be upset or feel guilty and she eventually decides that the best thing she can do is say good bye to Adam with her friends.
Clare and Eli arrive at the bonfire and tell Alli, Jenna and Connor her good news about her cancer, inspiring everyone to make the most of their lives.
After the tribute video has aired and the sun has gone down, Drew makes his way to bonfire and sees a chair filled with tribute gifts to Adam.
He begins talking to the chair and talking to his brother, as the people around stop and listen. Drew refuses to say good bye to his brother, saying that Adam will always be in his head. Drew apologizes to Becky for saying she killed Adam and thanks her for the bonfire and she suggests that the best way for them to move forward is to make Adam’s death mean something.
