Degrassi Ep. 35: Can’t Tell Me Nothing Part 2

March 9th, 2012

Tristan risks everything for his best friend, Jenna makes her feelings known to the school and Katie kicks up her drug habit to realize her soccer dream. Find out what happened on tonight’s brand new episode of Degrassi after the jump!

Maya catches Katie sneaking pills from their mom’s bottles and promises to not tell on Katie. She just needs to make it through her try out and then she’ll stop taking the pills. Or have to get a peg leg. Arrrrrh!

Katie is starting to second guess her decision to use Codeine to get through try outs and talks to Drew about the painkillers. Drew asks Katie to be careful and then helps enable her drug habit by giving her a piggy back to work. What a pusher.

Since it was Marisol’s idea to put the Coffee House Open Mic event together she’s trying to take care of everything so that Katie can focus on soccer. Unfortunately, Marisol can’t spell coffee. It happens.

Fiona bursts into the student council room and accuses Katie of stealing her idea for the open mic night. Katie doesn’t know what Fiona is talking about, but then Fiona points to Marisol and says that she told Marisol about the idea.

A theif AND a poor speller? Oh, Marisol. Fiona threatens Katie with impeachment (now that one is difficult to spell), so Katie decides she needs to take the reigns back on open mic night.

But to get through setting everything up in the cafeteria, Katie needs the help of painkillers. Are they working? I think Jake can confirm they are.

Katie needs to be serious about the side effects of her drugs. Just ask Drew.

Instead of waiting for the janitor to arrive and use the Scissor Lift to hang the curtain, Katie thinks she can operate the heavy machinery. Guess what.

She can’t.

Katie gets two weeks of detention and a worried little sister, but ignores both.

Before leaving for her tryout, Katie gets a text from Marisol telling her there’s a school council emergency outside. Is that a real thing? The emergency is a group of Katie’s friend wishing her good luck on her tryout. Dats nice.

But Katie needs more than luck.

Before she even this the field, Katie collapses after she hears a tear in her knee.

Katie’s tryouts are done for the season and she’ll need surgery to repair the damage she did to her knee. But that’s not the end of Katie’s worries. A second glance at her mother’s pill cabinet makes me think that the codeine’s addictive qualities have set in on Katie.

Jenna is given ‘er in the music room as she plays her not shiny song about KC and takes out her rage on an innocent chair.

Jake walks in to find Jenna rippin’ it up and admits that he wouldn’t want to be KC since the whole school knows the song is about him. KC overhears the song and definitely knows it’s about him.

Jenna is starting to second guess her decision to play her new song after Jake’s comments. That is until KC presents his poem about the monster Grenna.

I wonder who that was directed towards. Really, KC? Grenna?

Jake is trying to set up for the open mic night and clean up the tables Katie massacred when Jenna decides that she’s definitely playing her revenge song.

When it’s time for Jenna to take the stage she lets it all hang out and tells KC and the whole school that she’s over him.

No more drama for this teen mama.

Jenna helps Jake clean up after open mic night and they see KC walk into the cafeteria. Jake offers his assistance, but as Jenna showed the chair she threw across the music room that morning, she can handle herself.

KC apologizes for his Grenna poem (I think we all deserve an apology for that one) and admits that he needs to let Jenna get over their relationship in her own way.

The former couple shake it out.

Zig doesn’t see a spot for him in Tristan and Tori’s two man cabaret show Half a Heart.

Tori tries to convince Tristan that Zig doesn’t have to be in the performance with them, but Tristan won’t
hear it.

He thinks that if Tori has to choose between her bff and bf, Zig will win.

Zig tries to work with Tristan and suggests a rap. Unfortunately, Tristan sees this as an insult to his creative masterpiece. He is totally ready for the theatre world.

Zig tells Tristan that his song is campy and Tori admits that she thinks they should leave Half A Heart as a good memory from their summer camp performance. I think arm hearts should never be left behind.

Owen finds his younger brother outside of the school crying and waits for the coast to clear. I love these two together.

Tristan explains the cause of his tears and Owen suggest that he skip the performance. Owen reminds Tristan that when Tristan was 7 he put on a play for the entire neighborhood. Owen admits that the standing ovation was a result of Owen’s verbal warning to beat the snot out of anyone who didn’t clap. Awwww.

Even with his brother ruining a great memory (but also showing that he cares), Tristan decides to forge ahead with Half a Heart.

He gets two lines in before someone throws food at him. Who does that? Unable to watch her best friend booed, Tori runs on stage to complete the half of Tristan’s heart that’s missing.

But like the Grinch on Christmas, Tristan’s heart grows three times its size when Zig also joins them for his rap part.

The crowd is on their feet and Jake does his best to hold it together. Love it.
