Degrassi Episode 25: Another brick in the wall

October 8th, 2010

Oh happy day! Our prayers have been answered and our beloved Degrassi has come back to us. And to reward us for being so (kinda) patient, we get two brand new episodes tonight! A boo, a yah! Let’s git ‘er done! *Spoiler alert in this recap! If you missed tonight’s episode you can watch it here and read the last episode recap here!

The students of Degrassi are back and looking very…similar. After the shenanigans (you know, Eli almost getting stabbed, Alli almost having sex) that went down on Vegas Night, Principal Simpson is laying the smack down on rules. Students will be rocking uniforms that will correspond to their grade. It’s like a rainbow…with only four colours.

Annnnndddd…new intro! Whoop! Zane and Owen are offish new characters! Mean and cute and nice and cute. I love a good balance.

Alli hasn’t even made it inside the building and Drew is already approaching her about getting back together. Alli does her best Beyonce and tells Drew to make his way to the left (to the left).

The rules at the ‘new’ Degrassi are pretty black and white – no PDA, no violence, no weapons, no nothin’. Clare seems to be the most upset by these rules, which makes me think she’s going to break out the picket signs and start protesting pretty soon. Alli, on the other hand, welcomes the new rules as a way to make a fresh start.

Part of this fresh start includes joining the Science Team. Thankfully, Heather P has the mumps and Connor, Wesley and Adam are looking for a fourth member. In breezes Alli and her shockingly giant brain. Gooooo team!

While practicing in whatever way one practices on the science team, Adam lets it slip that Drew spent the entire break crying over Alli and obsessively walking by her house. Alli, of course, is swayed by Adam’s revelations and most likely, Drew’s dimples.

Before she can tell Drew that she’s giving him another shot, Alli is called to Principal Simpson’s office and informed that she is being sent to a self-esteem seminar for girls because of the boiler room incident. Alli is furious, but agrees to go. Unfortunately, Bianca also agreed to go. The two start getting real Jerry Springer up in hurre during the seminar. When everyone leaves the room for a break, Alli takes this as an opportunity to steal Bianca’s phone, find naked pictures of Bianca and send them to everyone in her contact list. Too far, Alli. Too far.

Word is spreading all over the school that Alli is the one to blame for the new rules, even though we all know she didn’t do anything on Vegas Night. Ain’t rumours grand? Apparently, even the nerdy Science Team heard about Alli and no longer want her in their club. That’s element-mercury cold.

On the other side of town, Jenna has bigger issues to worry about than no kissing in the halls. She’s a finalist on Final Teen Star and is trying to get through her sound check in a big sweater to cover up her big baby belly.

When Jenna’s competitor tries to psyche Jenna out with making it rain Twitter followers, she succeeds. Jenna is officially scared.

Not making matters any better, when it comes time for the interview portion of Next Teen Star at Degrassi, the producer makes if very clear to Jenna that she is b to the o, boring. Jenna asks Chantay to tell the cameras about Jenna, and apparently Jenna being nice is not interesting.

That night during the results taping, Jenna barely makes it to the next level.

She talks to Chantay the next day at school and when she asks the senior for advice, Chantay tells Jenna that it’s time to bring on the drama.

Jenna is finding it increasingly difficult to hide her growing belly. She asks KC whether he’s told his mom about the pregnancy yet and he storms off. I think we can take that as a definite ‘no’.

KC and his mom have been getting along really well since he moved back in with her and they decide to head to Miss Steaks for dinner to celebrate. KC’s mom is Jenna’s biggest fan and of course, is watching her on Next Teen Star while at the restaurant.

That also means that she’s watching when Jenna tells the world (and host Matt Babel, hai thurre) that she is preggers. Oh KC, probably should have told you mom a little sooner, no?

Will Bianca find out that it was Alli who sent the nekkid pics? Will Drew cheat again? Will Clare go along with the new rules or start a riot? Will Jenna’s pregnant vote-for-me plan work? Find out on the next episode of Degrassi, TONIGHT, at 9:30 pm ET!
