Degrassi Episode 29: Move out, move in, move up, move on

Clare’s parents are moving out, Dave’s social status is moving up, Drew is trying to move in on Fiona, and Eli looks like he might be moving on. Spoiler alert! If you missed tonight’s episode you can watch it here and read the last recap here!

Now that Clare’s parents have decided that their marriage is over, the inevitable moving out is happening. Clare is going to be shuttled between the two new apartments and she is understandably distraught. She sees an old watch that her dad is throwing out and can’t believe he is getting rid of sentimental items.

At school Clare is told by one of her old prayer buddies that the group is praying for while her parents go through their divorce. She finds Eli and gives him the watch. Then Eli opens his locker. Yikes! That thing doesn’t need a prayer, it needs an exorcism.

Adam and Drew have been assigned to the Food Drive by their mother who is trying to improve Degrassi’s image. Food Drives are nice, but that woman is still me-e-e-ean. They need more volunteers to help, but who? Oh, maybe this angel.

The guys convince Fiona to help out and Drew starts to lay into his master plan to make Fiona his girlfriend…or boiler room partner…I really never know what this boy is thinking.

Someone who is very clear about their thoughts is Dave. His dad is one of the police officers assigned to Degrassi, a fact that Dave doesn’t want anyone to know about. He makes this clear to Wesley, who doesn’t see what the big deal is, and then ditches his friend to play basketball with the Grade 11′s.

Back at home, Clare is still fighting with her parents to reconsider their decision. They won’t budge and she storms out of the house and makes her way to Miss Steaks to find Eli and his family. And. What. A. Family. I, for one, would like to party with the Goldsworthy’s.

Eli’s parents tell Clare that she can stay over in Eli’s room anytime she wants. Say what?

Eli asks them for some privacy and explains that his ex-girlfriend used to stay over when she was fighting with her parents. Clare reinstates the fact that she’s not having sex until marriage and Eli says that he understands, but she storms off anyways.

The next day at school Adam finds Fiona waiting for her cab to take her home (gurl, you is loaded). They share a ‘moment’ and it seems like there may be some sparkage exchanged between the two.

Drew has decided that the way to be with Fiona is in a suit, because she likes ‘fancy’ guys, whatever that means. He tries approaching her at The Dot and gets the coldest shoulder possible. Snaps.

At school Wesley brings up the fact that Dave’s dad is a cop and Dave freaks out. He tells Wesley to never talk about it again and then *shudder* tells Wesley he’s not cool enough to hang out with Dave’s new friends.

Wesley, shows how cool he is, and totally outs Dave to his new friends, who then label him with the lovely title of ‘Narc.’ Don’t mess with the Wes.

Clare decides that it’s time to go back to her prayer group and to everyone’s surprise, Eli joins her. She begins talking about her feelings towards her parents divorce and Eli ends up getting into a bit of an argument with the leader of the prayer group. Awkward. Clare storms out (damn, it’s like the ONLY way she exits rooms now!) and Eli follows her, telling her that he’s here for her. Le sigh.

At home Clare helps her mom start packing up the house. Clare gets her mom talking in an attempt to get her to rethink her decision. Her mom won’t, but she does say that she wishes she had taken more risks.

Inspired by her mother’s words (if she only knew) Clare hops on her bike and rides to Eli’s house. She tells Eli that she wants to spend the night with him (WOW!) and Eli tells her to leave (WHAT?). Clare storms off (told ya). What just happened???
