Degrassi Episode 8: Word to your mother

July 29th, 2010

What a mother of an episode this was! I laughed, I cried, I cringed for Dave. Mom’s the word on Degrassi and big things are happening!

*Spoiler alert in this recap! If you missed tonight’s episode you can watch it here and read the last episode recap here!

With KC’s mom out of jail and back in town he’s having a hard time controlling all of his emotions. Ya know what doesn’t help control your emotions? Drinking a bottle of gin with Alicia and Fitz and then sleeping in a car.

KC meets with his group home leader and a lawyer to discuss the possibility of KC legally being permitted to stay in the group home and not move in with his mom. He needs references to say that KC is better off without his mom, but when Mr. Armstrong says no to being a reference KC takes his anger out by keying the Coach’s car.

*Shout outs to the good people at Degrassi for not making the sound of the key on the car horrific. In real life it’s like nails on a chalk board. *SHUDDER*

KC gets called to Principal Simpson’s office and finds Mr. Armstrong, his group home leader and his mother waiting for him. When Principal Simpson accuses KC of keying the Coach’s car KC’s mom sticks up for him. KC finally sees that maybe he can depend on his mom and decides to try living with her. Tearjerker scene!

Back in Obliviousville Alli still doesn’t realize that Dave is totes into her. When Alli tells Dave that she is going to make things official with her new boyfriend he thinks she means him. She doesn’t.

It was like watching the episode of The Simpsons when Lisa breaks Ralph Wiggum’s heart and you can actually see it break in slow-mo. So sad.

Alli may have counted her quarterback eggs before they hatched because Drew gives her the ol’ brushoff when she approaches him in front of a group of girls. Drew’s excuse? They can’t date because he is too busy being the starting quarterback. Translation: I am now the hottest dude in school and need to be free to mack on numerous chicks. Cold.

Later that day (when NO chicks are around) Drew finds Alli and suggests they find somewhere to make-out. Alli offers up her crib. Alli may be missing the huge DEALBREAKER sign over Drew’s actions, but I will say that at least she’s less scared of her parents finding out that she dates than her older brother Sav is abou the issue.

Things seem to be getting worse with Clare’s parents and Clare’s mother won’t tell her what’s going on. Frustrated with things at home Eli continues to encourage Clare to write about her feelings towards her parents. Clare takes his advice and in doing so impresses her English teacher so much that she decides that Clare should present her paper in front of the Parents Assembly.

At the last minute Clare gets cold feet and refuses to read her paper, but later at home she let’s her mom read the essay. Clare finally gets some answers from her mom and Eli stops by to see how she’s doing. Oh ya, he like likes her.

Will KC and his mom be happy living together? Will Alli put up with Drew only seeing her in private? Will Clare and Eli date? Find out on Monday’s brand new episode of Degrassi at 9pm ET!
