All I Want To Believe In by Modernboys Moderngirls
Tease feature, as everyone comes back to school.

As we come back to school everyone is a little older and a little wiser and that’s what we aimed for in the music placement. The cool Toronto indie band Modernboys Modergirls paced the scene for a warm welcome back.

Everyday (yo hello hooray) by USS
Fiona’s party music.

This is a new version of the song “Yo Hello Hooray (everyday)” by USS. There’s some tension in the scene that is lifted a bit by the music, but not too much. We still need to feel a bit awkward. We are, after all, trying to make new friends.

The Lights by Fred
Tin foiling the cafeteria.

The song’s instrumentation sold this placement. The picture inspired the need for something “magical” or unknown, something that would seem surreal. The prank is pretty epic and the music had to make the kids feel invincible.

Because I’m Awesome by The Dollyrots
Catfight in class.

This song had been on our radar for a while. In fact we had placed it before in Season 10. This wasn’t a serious fight scene. We wanted to create a bit of a ridiculous atmosphere. We decided on another placement for the song because, well, because it’s awesome.

Astronaut by Robyn Dell’Unto
Clare and Jake almost “do it”.

Robyn’s music is dreamy and elusive, and was perfect for this scene. We had no idea where the scene was heading, and we felt the nervous tension. Cutting through it with Robyn’s song was like wrapping the scene in a warm duvet blanket, it felt awkward, but still comfortable.

Check out Robyn Dell’Unto’s video for Astronaut below and don’t miss her on tour in Canada this spring. Want more Robyn? Download the acoustic version of her song Astronaut for free on her site www.robyndellunto.com!
