Devon’s L.A. Report

May 15th, 2007

6:20am, West Hollywood hotel room, tenth floor; jet lag is a B.I.T.C.H.. I’ve been in L.A. for 4 days now and can’t sleep. Let me re-phrase, I can sleep, but once 6am rolls around (which is 9am EST) I am on like a lightbulb in a dark room.

KROQ has been spinning the new Interpol track a lot on the radio from their upcoming album - it’s allllll right. Yes, just all right. The track by the way is called The Heinrich Maneuver. This may seem strange coming from a huge Interpol fan, but music is like politics; if you won’t criticize, you’re only doing yourself and them a disservice in the end.

If you want a really good one check out this little DOOZIE, taped at the London, Ontario secret show I was at a month ago (no, I’m not the once who taped it.)

I’ve been doing interviews while down here, spoke to Mr. Marilyn Manson on Saturday, such an interesting guy. We talked about his martyrdom in the media over the past 10 years, his relationship with his own mortality and consequently his relationship with god at this point in his life (you’re going to be surprised at the answer). I won’t spoil it for you but you’ll be able to see the interview on The NewMusic and MuchNews sometime soon.

After our 40 minute interview at his hotel in Burbank, he hung around and we chatted some more off camera, he’s actually a great guy with a fantastic sense of humour. Just further proof your parents were right, you can’t ever judge a book by its cover. Ain’t it a bitch when you realize your parents/teachers were right about almost everything? Damn son.

Play safe,

Devon
