With the Simmons clan everything comes down to family. So when Diggy’s diss track What You Say to Me was leaked exposing beef with J. Cole it came as no surprise. Why the diss? Allegedly J. Cole rapped about Diggy’s older sister, Vanessa Simmons, in his track Purple Rain hinting that they were more than just friends while attending university together. Diggy has it on good authority that nothing happened between Vanessa and J. Cole and decided to lay a track down to set the record straight.

In an interview with Inland Empire’s 99.1 KGGI, Diggy explains that the track wasn’t going to end up on the album. He had decided that it was not “appropriate” but at the very least he wanted to defend his sister’s honour. We don’t know how J. Cole will react to the diss, but at least we know that family comes first for Diggy.
