You can see Calicose on episode 4 of disBand today at 6:30pm ET! (For more show times go here). Here’s what drummer Jeff has to say about their experience on the show.
Hey kids, Jeff here from your local AA group Calicose. Here to fill you up with some motion sickness love and tell you a True Story at the same time. Wanna hear a True Story?
No? Really?
Well deal with cause im gonna tell the story anyways….
About two months ago this young lad I know named Keir bought a used car from the Pimps R’ Us located in Jacksonville, Ontario. Its a real place, look it up. Anywho, you know that myth, never buy a used car from a pimp… in this case Keir should have thought twice because two months ago that car gave him a certain illness that starts with an S. Don’t ask us how, but it was scientifically proven to us by a wandering gang of Tom Brokaws, who were hiding within the cast of Family Guy.
Anywho, Keir’s old pals Stu and Alana, both lead members of the P.B.S. crew (hahahaha), read online that the one and only way to cure yourself of that illness that ends with an yphilis was to perform in front of a panel of judges live at MuchMusic. If these judges thought you were worthy, they would provide the antidote. So Stu, Alana and Keir set off on a mission to start a band in order to save Keir’s little buddy. They found me along the way at those very classy $5 places in Mississauga where the ladies are ohhhhhh so friendly.
HA! Okay thats enough of that, in all seriousness, HUGE props to producers Adam and Leslie for working with us and for dealing with all our terrible jokes; we meant it when we said we could not have asked for cooler producers!!
We also wanna send a huge thanks to Greig Nori. Even with such an impressive resume, this guy is single handedly one of the most down to earth musicians we have ever come across. Kiddies, go out and buy this man’s records.
The experience of being on this show was unreal! Everyone in the band sacrificed a lot in the last two months in order to shoot for the show, but im pretty sure if you ask each member, they would do it all again in a heartbeat. Anywho, if you wanna DOWNLOAD our 8 song album go here or visit our MySpace to spread some love.
Your Pals,
Calicose
ps. it’s a shame this is the extremely edited down version of this blog… if you guys wanna see the original, visit our MySpace in the coming week, we will post it when we stop being dirty burnouts.

You know John what ever. I do understain then you don’t like the calicose music but that doesn’t mean they don’t have talent that’s just mean that it’s not your kind of music. I do agree then Miley Cyrus and a lot of artist can have better lyrics. I don’t necesarely like all type of music but I still stay objective. And for the homecoming the song you wrote maybe look
like another one. But who don’t
Avril lavigne-Boyfriend
R.Kelly- I believe I can fly
london bridge-Fergie
there is a big list
When you write music The beat just come in you’re head and there is the way it is
Don’t worry about that
dude i am fucking shitfaced…let me just say….quinn…you’re cute….and yeah i love what i do. hence why i still do it..all you fucking people with a problem can really go suck a turd. It’s not every day you find what you wanna do for the rest of your life and actually get a chance to succeed.
and yes..i am actually drunk FOR ONCE! in my life…hooooooooooo boy. i need sleep. tata
yeah i just read my drunken message.
I’m an idiot.
wow.
Ha I thought it was cute. i wanted to find you, and bask in your drunken-stupor happiness.
But my wife said no.
I think good or bad in terms of these bands is coming and seeing them live and deciding for yourselves - ive personally seen soulplane live and im sorry but mel g’s voice knocks all of your asses out of the water - true talent is in a voice that grabs attention
you can have a good band yes but you need a true spirited voice like hers
and this show is not a true expression of the talent that these people have
Understood Sam. I didn’t say she was a bad singer; I sad it was a bad performance. There’s a difference.
mel g’s voice is fresh and what this show is about
this show is not a real showing on how phenomenal her vocals are. even listen to soulplanes myspace and not tell me she blows al the vocals compared to all three of these other bands out of the water
taste is a matter of opinion but you cant deny her true talent and im surprised its not been recognized enough on this site
I went to their myspace and could hear the difference. Again, I’m not saying she’s a bad singer. But she WAS flat throughout the entire performance that was shown on TV. So, good singer, but bad performance.
It’s tough to argue with science.
why are you writing this on our page?
If you think mel has an amazing voice go tell her. I never once disagreed with that, she does have a good voice…we have two completely different voices, i am trained singer in musical theatre and classical music, i just wanted to do something different for a change.
I know i have a good voice, its not being arrogant im just extremely happy with where i am with my vocals for once in my life.
Do not compare me with mel g because we are not the same style or the same voice.
Thanks.
It seems the fans of certain bands see this as some sort of competition, and so they think it’s cool to come to the blogs and knock the other bands.
It says a lot more about their insecurities than it does about you guys, don’t worry.
Hey, i was just on your myspace and im wondering what u used/how u recorded your songs for your myspace…
Also, do you have facebook? I don’t happen to have a myspace.
I just want to say good job. Song started out really good, loved the guitar. Very simple and interesting. Vocals were really good, need some work here and there but definetly felt the emotion. Scream was out of no where, either drop it or make it a staple in the song. Bridge was fantastic, but the transition out of it going to the chorus not too great. I would suggest smoothing that out.
One thing I want to point out, the fact the four of you have only played a few shows, definetly shows. Greg Noiri talked about being bored when seeing you live, the singer needs to loosen up and interact with the crowd. Draw the audience in and interact with them, makes a show 10x better. Why would someone go to your show, if they can get the same thing by pressing play on their iPod.
I really liked you guys, not there yet … but you are definetly on your way. Check out my band Die Famous at myspace.com/diefamousband
tight song. keep rockin hard. p.s. lovin the means shirt haha those boys are awesome i love em!
Omg….the lead singer needs to chill out on this blog…u are so insecure and u obviously show it with all your responses….mind u , I think your cute and have a good voice but u need to slow down and learn how to take the cristism with a grain of salt…remember u guys chose 2 go on NATIONAL TELEVISION….the negative coments comes with the territory, with all your time spent on this blog u could have recorded 6 more songs for your ep…..so next time you see an negative coment , BREATHE IN, BREATHE OUT, RELAX AND LAUGH IT OFF….besides that u guys were good and keep rockin !!!!!!!!!!! P.S THE HOMECOMING FANS ARE ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL NERDSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
i actually take constructive criticism well..when ppl dish out insults with no explanation i have every right to defend my music and my friends, when its a personal insult towards us as people.
Its funny when i read what you wrote because i wrote the exact same thing to kara mel…and now im the one getting all upset? hahaha weird.
but thank you.
lame
I remember when the word lame used to be cool
Thanks for the way back play back.
Rah rah oo la la rama ma la la gaga!
