[Watch a new episode of disBAND Tuesday @ 6pm ET. Check out what Joshua from Dean Lickyer had to say about the band's experience on the show!]
Friends, North Americans, City and/or Countrymen…
If this is your first meeting with Dean Lickyer then it’s our pleasure to meet you. To be quick through the introductory formalities, DEAN LICKYER is a four piece rock band from Hamilton, Ontario with a sound inspired by classic bands of the 60s, 70s and 80s as well as many of the bands of today.
Moving along…
Since the essence of good television and all drama is “conflict”, we can be accused of threatening the entertainment value of our episode by making our time with MuchMusic seemingly frictionless. Exempting our natural clumsiness from first time camera fears, we tap-danced through every challenge like Fred Astaire… from the stunt of our rogue performance outside the Rogers Centre while AC/DC played inside, to the various interviews and scrutinized performances, as well as our “reward” of semi-nude photos (if you are reading the blog before watching the episode the previous comment might not be what you think…or is it?!).
It was a ball. The MuchMusic crew was great and treated us like gentlemen (as if we were the ladies and this was our first date). The judges were like Much’s friends and they gave us their approval as they looked us up and down. My personal favorites were Mark Spicoluk and Saukrates: Mark for liking the story behind the name, Sauk for defending the name and for doing a great version of Kashmir with the violin on YouTube. Ralph was grand, but much more intimidating than the rest, and the woman whose name escapes me… well she was going for the short, sweet approach I think.
Thank you’s go out firstly to, Matthew Barnes, a stone cold killer shooting with that lens. I don’t think another photographer could have made us trust him enough to start stripping. We had faith in his vision and the photographs were deadly. To Mark, Leslie, Guru Greig and all the MUCH Crew… it was a blast and I hope you had as much fun as we did. Last, but of course not least, is the thanks to everyone who came out to the final performance at MUCH and the after- party that followed; it will certainly go down as a day for DEAN LICKYER to remember.
If you haven’t already watched the episode, check us out. If you enjoyed what you saw and heard we will be touring from coast to coast in Canada and a lot of the United States in 2009. Check our MySpace page regularly for updates on shows.
As it was said in the beginning, if this is your first encounter with us, it’s a pleasure. Hopefully this won’t be your last and as you grow into us and with us, with luck; the pleasure will no longer be solely ours.
Come stop by our Facebook and MySpace pages after the episode for a chat and cake… the cake is a lie; sorry.
Happy Holidays,
Joshua Alvernia, D.L.

you guys definately made all the rest of the bands in disband look like kids. bands who got disbanded or didnt. I see you guys and the karamel having potential out of all the groups so far.
THE CAKE IS A LIE!
Dean Lickyer kicks serious ass and are without a doubt one of the upcoming Canadian bands to look out for. Publishers and Distributers, look no further!
why is this episode not online yet?
Great performance of a terrible song. Seriously, why do “musicians” have to repeat what’s been overdone before? The Isosceles Project poops on you.
You guys are just flat out amazing!!!!! Keep on rockin!!!
well sean is the best buitarist to ever grace disband with his presence…
lol anyone else notice that?
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
I don’t know what else to say, you guys are definitely the best band in this show so far. I was so mesmerize by the singer, the way he moves and sings was just flawless. Good luck in your future!
this episode doesn’t seem to load on the site…
You guys did a good job. Maybe one day we’ll cross paths and play some shows together.
In the meantime if you want to hear an amazing band that definately takes alot of elements from classic rock and turns it into something completely new check out portugal the man.
http://www.myspace.com/portugaltheman
their last two albums church mouth and censored colors are probably some of the best rock albums to come out in the last 20 years for sure. (i know that’s saying alot but just listen to it)
or you can check my band out (not quite as good as portugal though) http://www.myspace.com/rabbittransit
finally a good rock n’roll band with no cliches and music that will really help put rock n’ roll back in mainstream again.hope to tour with these guys when i make it in a band
jake i hope you’re kidding. no cliches? this band is the most cliche rock and roll band i have ever heard. is it that hard to try something new these days?
I was totally blown away by the talent shown by this group of young and wonderful men. Their music crosses many generations can be enjoyed by everyone and is even better than the rock of my youth. If this band doesn’t make it big than I have lost faith in the music industry. Their show was so entertaining and the music so unbelievable that it commanded the attention of everyone in the room. How often do you see that happen!!! Good luck Dean Lickyer, you have what it takes, TALENT!!!!!
i think you guys have all the talent in the world, but your music is definitely not my style! but i have no doubt you guys will become successful.
That is some sweet hair Mr. Lead Singer. I wish I had it.
P.S. Amazing band! … that is all!
YOU ARE THE CUTEST GUY EVER JOSHUA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YOU GUYS ROCK THE WORLD! awsomenesss!!!!!!!!!!!
whats your e-mail?
Stick with it. I know a great band where I hear one and you guys are it!
I would say I’m pretty good with picking out a good bank and just like I pick out others before they got big you guys will be big too! Just keep getting your name out there! From the Eastcost PEI!
Awesome guys, you have been the first band on DisBand that hasn’t sucked! You guys could help save Rock ‘n’ Roll from the history books!
Rock on!
GUESS WHAT DEAN LICKYER/ JOSHUA/ WHOEVER HAPPENS TO BE READING THIS ?
I don’t like oldschool. At all. Not one bit. Natta. But when I heard you guys playing that song on Much Music, I knew what you guys were playing was GOOD MUSIC. I don’t care what genre it is, if its something I typically listen to or not, you guys are pretty kick ass. And by “pretty” I mean completely. Wholly. Entirely. Kick. Ass.
Oh, and you owe me cake.
Seeing a band so influenced by the classic rock was amazing. These days most artists don’t realize the pure talent and ambition that has to go into music these days. Keep on doing what you’re doing.
Make us a video. Be on TV. Magic!
