disBAND: Stereos (Miles)

(Since the finale of disBAND aired, Stereos have catapulted up the Canadian charts. Crazy, right?! Here’s another blog from a band member - this time Miles!)
What can I say. Every little boy’s dream is to become a rockstar but we never thought our dreams would become a reality this way. We were just a small-time Edmonton band with big aspirations and we weren’t going to let anyone get in our way.
We were given the chance of a lifetime when Greig Nori asked us to take part in a MuchMusic show called disBAND. At this point we had nothing to lose and everything to prove. What a better way to prove to the world how passionate and how serious you are about what you do.
After a week of being filmed and followed by MuchMusic it was time to present ourselves to the DisBAND judges. To be honest we went in there with full confidence. Any nervous thought was overcome by excitement. Turned out that 3 out of 4 loved us! So that’s not too bad. We did what we set out to do and impressed who we needed and more.
After returning back to Edmonton we all went back to our normal lives…..But not for long… We got a call from Mark Spicoluk of Universal records telling us to get back to Toronto. We didn’t just go back to Toronto we packed up and moved. Because of that move we were able to play a showcase for Gene Simmons and Universal. We delivered and impressed. We were offered the contract on the spot and obviously we took it. Years and years of working hard, people telling you to quit, people telling you it’s impossible, have paid off big.
Today is the biggest day of our lives so far. We have been asked to be a guest on MOD. We finally feel like we are doing this for real and it’s a huge honor (How many bands can say they played MOD?). On top of a live performance we get to release our first real music video for the song “Summer Girl”. This is our first big step in entering the big leagues. Truly living the dream.
This is only the beginning.

Hey stereos, its one of your biggest fans joel. i live in oakville ontario. theres alot of music festivals and concerts going on around here mostly toronto. it would be awsome if you guys could come down here for a concert, there so happens to be the oakville waterfront festival during the dates june 26 to june 28.
