If you didn’t catch The Isosceles Project on disBAND last night, fear not, cause we’ll have the whole thing online for you to enjoy shortly. Here’s what the band had to say about their experience on the show!
Wow. We hope everyone else had as much fun watching that episode as we did. As much as it makes it look like we hate MuchMusic and everything (which we do), we really have nothing bad to say here. The episode captured everything our band is about, and they let us go on national TV and play a 13-minute song. What more can you really ask for? We obviously have to thank our beautiful audience for coming out to the performance. They’re the reason we’re in a band playing what we want to play.
Our “Preditor” (producer/editor) Adam Rathwell was a stand-up guy throughout the shooting. He and his crew were totally down with our decision to stay instrumental and stick to our guns. We know more than anybody that our band has no business being on MuchMusic, and we’re not at all interested in trying to cater to their audience. But we would have been stupid pass up this opportunity to gain such a massive amount of exposure for our music.
Hopefully, this episode might open people’s musical minds a little. It would be nice if more people knew that music doesn’t have to be four chords and three minutes long. But if that’s your thing, that’s your thing. We are fully aware that the market for our kind of music is small. But it is there. We would rather have a meaningful career playing the music we love to the people who love it than compromise ourselves for a bunch of tweens. Sorry.
So of course, we fully predicted what the judges would say. I guess the footage didn’t make it into the episode, but we totally knew the judges would tell us to disBAND because our music isn’t written for them. Afterwards, the person who was most disappointed in the verdict was Greig! Sure, we were dicks to him at first (can you blame us?), but Greig was fully on board by the end. He is a genuinely nice guy just trying to do his job, and his wig was awesome.
We don’t have much more to say. This episode respresented us as a band perfectly. You all know what we’re about so if you can handle it come see us at a show sometime!

I don’t tend to listen to alot of “metal” music, but I can recognize real talented musicians when I hear them, and you guys are exactly that. I disagree with the judges verdict that the song was too long . I know many well known bands or orchestra played pieces that are alot longer than 13 minutes and are still entertaining. My only critique is that you should be more open to opinions, even if you don’t agree, you can always learn from them to further develop your craft. Anyway, I wish you dudes all the success in the future. Keep playing!
You guys rocked…I didn’t expect anything else. Eric, I remember hitting a bunch of your shows in North Bay and I’m glad you’re still rocking out. Keep doing your thing.
Hello!!
I love the Isosceles Project! I have seen the passion and time devoted to making a truly new and inspirational sound. These guys have it!!! I am friends with Eric and I know how long he has been trying to find the perfect guys to jam with. Jumping from band to band, I am happy that he has found 2 awesome dudes that share the same passion as he does. To tell them on TV that they need to disband because their music is not commercial is disgusting! The radio SUCKS BALLS!!! Who the hell wants to listen to 3 minute songs, then commercials, then another lame 3 minute song, then an add for a club, then Rogers, and then another 3 minute song followed by another commercial? Did i mention that all the songs played are THE SAME!!!! They are played OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!!????!!! I would rather listen to a 14 minute song from a band THAT KNOWS HOW TO CREATE MUSIC!!! They actually play instruments!!!!!
If you didn’t like their music, go back into your car, I’m sure you’ll find out when Britney needs to take a shit!
i wasn’t. lol. I wanted the curly haired fucker to! LOL
sick performance guys. Not really into metal all that much (but it could mainly be the singing)
Listen to don caballero or russian circles a couple other great instrumental bands.
explosions in the sky is another noteworthy one.
I really liked seeing something different on a show like this..
good work guys
You’d think Much Music would at least put one Metal lover jugde on the show.. its like they were purposely trying to burn you guys at the end… probably for skull fucking much music!! haha… Tessier don’t ever change! ..that was the most amussing shit i’ve seen on TV in a while!!
I notice the episodes now air only once, where they used to get aired like 7 times. Did the show get cut or something?
Best band on Disband ever.
P.S. Greig, just marry me already.
Hahaha I love you guys. At least the judges admitted they’re only there for determining commercial success. Kind of a funny statement when they were blatantly being used and exposed.
i wish this how was longer. i understand where the judges are coming from. regardless, you guys killed it!! i’ve never seen any rock out SO hard and play such complicated stuff at the SAME TIME! really creative too. i wish i had seen the whole performance. (lol that’s enough wishing) GOOD SHIT!
theo
Yeah we e-mailed them about the full performance. They better not puss out…
There are tons of videos on our myspace of full performances and we are going to have a dvd out in the new year so no worries
stay mother fucking awesome
HOLY S#$T Isosceles Project IS THE BEST!!! i feel bad that i couldnt catch the debut i was out saving the wold but after watchin scotty to hotty rip apart much music online or live…either way they killed it! this band is a new age of music! noone does it like them and ever will! they are unique they are the band! they are……the Isosceles Project.
saw you guys at the red room on my bro’s bday and let me say, my cock was rocked \m/
“least put one Metal lover jugde on the show”
One of the judges used to be in Buckettruck. A pretty heavy band.
The Red Room has bands now?
yeah it’s a shame the Buckettruck guy wasn’t on the panel for us. Would’ve been nice to hear his feedback. Scott actually played a show with them in one of his old bands.
Hey guys, wicked show, it’s Paul (the one lucky enough to be picked to sing, at least short term), just wanted to say that they surprisingly were honest in their represenation of the band, very pleasantly surprising to see. The performance at Much was fierce, and as far as the judges go, they came across looking like someone who’s trying to cover their asses, just in case because the talent is undeniable (don’t have the musicianship?!? PLEASE!).
Thanks again for the opportunity, guys, it was a great learning experience for me, as I’m sure it was for you as well, good luck to the future!
“Waiting for the one - the D1ck that never comes-ah!” Keep in touch, boys!
Thanks Paul. They didn’t show in the episode how well Paul was taking our ideas and trying them on the spot. He did an amazing job for the time given with the songs and was by far the best person we’ve ever had audition. and we’ve had ALOT. hahaha. great fucking attitude too
Although watching the full performace makes me realize i still have a lot to work on. It’s finding the balance between flipping out and keeping it clean which is something i need to work on. I defenitly ate a bag of dicks on a few occasions during the performance and I’ll be the first to admit it.
that being said The Isosceles Project is a live band so it’s going to be a different listening and visual experience than listening to it on the record. I might not be playing every note perfect but i can guaratee i’ll be fucking obliterating the stage with transcendental apocalyptic evil
stay awesome everyone
and any comments are welcome so stop being a pussy
Guys!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for skull f***ing CTVglobemedia. Thank you for not giving in to being mere entertainment; you guys ARE artists. Screw the pushers of the status quo, your music isn’t meant for for their sad little world. I’m happy you guys did what you did and I’m glad they told you to disband. You guys rock and I can’t wait to see you guys play live again. Thank you guys so much, watching that truly was inspiring.
Rob
THESE GUYS FUCKIN TORE MUCH MUSIC UP!

Hey, I just caught the episode like five minutes ago.
In all honesty guys, I liked your sound a lot. However, I found myself gritting my teeth and annoyed at your behavior on the show. If you “weren’t Sum 41″ and didn’t want to “cater to the Muchmusic audience” then what was the purpose of going on the show? The idea that you don’t care about the MuchMusic and their audience, yet presented yourself to them and their critique is preposterous. You guys came off as whiners and megalomaniacs. You b*tched and moaned throughout the whole duration of the episode. I know MuchMusic isn’t the epitome of good television programming, but this episode was pretty lame.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of progressive metal and, like I said, your sound was tight. The only difference I see between you and the “mainstream” bands you were tearing is that they whine while playing music, and don’t whine outside of it, whilst you guys do the opposite.
Good luck in all your endevours, though.
Peace.
I’m normaly more into rock/alternative punk, but I can honestly say you guys made me love metal
I just watched your episode and scanned a few blog comments.
I’m glad you guys kept your pure intstrumental flow and your lengthy song. Nothing like moshpitting to an endless amount of guitars and drums until someone bashes your head in and you pass out, wake up, and the song is still going on for you to continue rocking out!
The only thing that bugged me was that you guys couldn’t accept help. Yes, perhaps not taking MuchMusic’s opinion was the best idea, cause well… yeah. But I hope you guys understand the purpose of this show, which is to help bands succeed in Pop Culture.
I enjoy metal from time to time, but honestly, the few metal bands that are floating in popular culture is Metallica, and maybe even DragonForce, cause it had it’s moment thanks to guitar hero. So i hope you guys being on muchmusic was to show yourselves to a wider metal audience, and not try to get into pop culture… cause that’s what it seems you were going for.
Regardless, I hope you boys don’t change or “disband”. I doubt you guys will.
1. The only reason why we did the show was to get free promotion for us and our friends.
2. We really don’t give a fuck about Much Music or their audience… and we mean that sincerely from the bottom of our hearts
3. We are always more than interested and willing to take the time to consider peoples ideas and crits towards our music… But if your telling us to get a singer and cut 3/4 of our song down so we get radio play (no matter who you are) we are obviously going smile politely and pat you on the head. Or tell you to fuck off.
4. For anyone who plays guitar hero. suck it up and pick up a real guitar
Eric
The only comment I have is for the dude that put up the bitching and whining comment. Have you read your post! I can’t believe you thought we were bitching and whining. Send me your address and I will mail you a whole box of kleenex.
But good luck with your endeavors though
My turn!!
We did try to include a singer and we didn’t think it worked. We actually did cut down Doppleganger to 5 minutes and we didn’t like it. The point is, we do take other people’s ideas into consideration. We love exploring new possibilities with our music, that’s what being Progressive is all about. But if we don’t like your idea, we won’t do it. Do you think if you told Sum 41 to lose their singer and extend their songs to 10 minutes, they would try it out? Don’t believe everything you see on TV guys. Come out to a show and come say hi to us, then make a judgment.
man. these assholes at much take their fucking sweet ass time uploading these blog comments. I think i wrote one close to a week ago and it still isn’t up. hahaha
where is the budget? haha
All your comments have been approved, what are you talking about dude!
i wrote one around week ago and it didn’t get posted. maybe there was a malfunction or something. sorry haha
I thought my novel of a post got edited out. I guess I’m an idiot.
i’m not writing it again.
No worries! PS: thanks for the word ‘Facef*ck’, amazing.
Stop talking Eric.
stop drumming
If anyone still reads this space: We have CD’s to sell now. Order em through paypal off our myspace or come to a show and grab one.
I get that you done want to “conform”, which in itself is crap( full of yourself), but why go on disband if your not going to listen to anyone. Scott, at the end you said you didnt care? Again, why go on the show and waste our time with your terrible music.( Drummer was the only good part). Seriously though, if you are soooo agianst everything commercial, you would be better off not doing TV. Scott is a fake. just wanted to be on TV. You would have been so happy if they liked it. Then you would have cared.
i think the decision was complete and utter bullshit! what only shitty pop bands who have no real skill can pass. they don’t real musicianship when they see it. they only see three guys head banging but don’t really relize that metal is the hardest shit to play. as far as too long, fuck that, that just shows that they have endurance and are creative i think u guys rock pretty hard. keep it metal
Andrew, you’re an idiot. They went on this show for free publicity. Was it that hard to understand? They wouldn’t take advice because they’re not meant for the mainstream, and everyone who was trying to give advice was doing so for the purpose of them catering to commercial success. If you don’t like playing your own music then you shouldn’t be a band, so taking the wrong advice would have been stupid. Who would pass up a live performance on national television? This band does things their own way and are incredibly original and beyond any music that’s played on the channel.
***pats Andrew on the head*** No offense or anything, but I don’t really care what you think. But….I got a good laugh out of it and anyone that knows me will definatley get a kick out of your post. Thanks for making my day.
And just so you know Andrew. If I just wanted to be on T.V I would been naked the entire time. That way the Canadian audience could see how big my c*ck was. Take care bud.
Scott
Since we now know Scott is fake we have fired him. The new bass player should be in the mail in the next few days.
And honestly Andrew…We aren’t against commercial music. We are against music that is boring and uninteresting. We have no problem with being commercial and selling records. How the fuck do you think we are going finance a tour if we don’t sell anything?? We went on the show to promote our friends and ourselves…and to waste your time with our shitty music. We tried their ideas (which was fun) but didn’t agree with them…so go eat a vaginal soufflĂ©.
Whoever Rick The Penetrator is….come to our show on the 13th of Feb at Sneaky Dee’s and I will give you a big sloppy kiss
Scott
I agree the drummer was the only good part. Also the sexiest.
Good to see there are still new bands out there with artistic integrity. As a musician myself, you guys have earned my respect.
Long songs kick ass. Dream Theater’s “A Change of Seasons” is 23 minutes, and it’s a masterpiece.
I guess some people will never understand that music can expand beyond 3 minutes, 3 chords, and 4/4 time.
I will buy your album if you release one.
we just released one 2 days ago. 4 songs, 44 minutes. 10 bucks. http://www.theisoscelesproject.com
buy it to help support our tour ![]()
we are destroying shit out east in june.
I fucking love “A Glass Prison” by Dream Theater, look up epic in the dictionary and you’ll see that song. Lately I’ve been addicted to “I” by Meshuggah which is 21 minutes. Let’s not leave out “Colors” by Between the Buried and Me which is essentially one 64 minute piece.
Wow, just watched that episode tonight. I’m not just some musician band newb for the record. I can’t possibly type everything that I want to say but I will try.
First off, I probably represent 95% of the people watching that. I’m not everyone, but I’m neutral middle of the road. So, reality is, you guys need to get some type of skill or education so that when your dreams fail, you can have a family and a life.
You wanted to milk the MM appearance to expose your music? You kidding? What people saw were some dicks who are nobodys in the music industry trying to act like somebodies. Who gives a shit if you guys have conviction? You didn’t amake fans, you actually repelled them. You guys obviously know everything, so you won’t listen to what the reality is. People who have accomplished something can have attitude. Therefore by the same logic, you guys should have no attitude.
Again, just to get it into you head. The experiment went terribly wrong. You were there to “promote” yourself but in fact you looked like and seem like a bunch of fucking idiots. If that is what you were hoping for then mission accomplished. If I were running MM, I’d have burnt the tapes and kicked you ass out the back door into the alley. Instead it looks like they turned the tables and made you guys look like a bunch of clowns. Fact is, they are the company, you are (were) just the employee. You might someday see the reality of life. Maybe? You guys seem pretty dense so perhaps that may happen when you’re 65.
I hope you guys re-read all your fans comments. All 50 of them.
what ever man. you need a hug. hahaha. we just got our first pressed record in the mail a few days ago (and it feels fucking amazing by the way), we are booking our first tour (which is going to be fucking awesome), and we’ve been making tons of new friends across Canada because of the show so stick it in your gaping vagina.
I don’t know what the fuck your reality is but ours is fucking awesome. we’re living the dream
go clean yourself
Thanks for your wonderful perspective. And just for the record I’m not some band newb, I have been doing this band thing for 10 years, I have toured and done it all. Being on national T.V is a massive thing. Good exposure or bad exposure, press is press. I don’t know what band you play in but I’m sure your role in the band is pussy or skin flute player.
Go fuck yourself
Scott

I was upset that the drummer didn’t take his shirt off.
