If you grew up falling in love with the touching tale of Belle taming a beast and finding love, then you have a reason to celebrate. Disney announced that they are planning a live version of the classic film Beauty and the Beast.
With the box office success of Maleficent Disney is hoping to strike gold again with another live action fairy tale. Disney has released little information about the new Beauty and the Beast movie other than it will be directed by Bill Condon who directed the last two installments of the Twilight franchise.
Beauty and the Beast is considered one of Disney’s most successful animated films grossing $375 million, having a Broadway musical, and even earning a best picture nomination at the Oscars.
Disney is planning two other live action remakes of classic films. A live version of Cinderella is being produced with Kenneth Branagh directing and Jon Favreau is directing a live version of The Jungle Book.
As an avid Disney fan I’m excited for all these live remakes of the classics. I just hope they keep Belle’s iconic yellow ball gown from Beauty and the Beast.Tweet
