Rihanna recently revealed to British mag NME that she is annoyed with music company executives placing products into her music videos. The Rude Boy singer feels that product placements make her videos feel more like “ad campaigns.” Says Rihanna “I don’t like things to be so commercial. I hate product placement in my videos. Videos should just tell the story of the song. Sometimes we have to (use products in music videos), for whatever political reason, but it’s never my first choice.”
If Rihanna dislikes product placements in music videos I wonder what she thinks of Lady Gaga’s and Beyonces video for Telephone? In addition to the controversy created by the videos use of violence, nudity and swearing, much criticism was drawn for its abundant use of blatant product placements.
