Donna Summer passes away at age 63

Donna Summer, the Queen of Disco, sadly passed away this morning at age 63 after losing her battle to cancer. TMZ is the first news outlet to report on the singer’s passing, saying that she was in Florida at the time of her death.

TMZ is also reporting that Summer kept the extent of her illness out of the public eye and was even finishing a new album at the time of her death. Summer released her last album in 2008 with Crayons, touring with the disc throughout that year.

A five-time Grammy winner, Summer is credited as being one of the main artists who brought disco music out of the dance clubs and into mainstream radio play.
