Don’t expect new music from Gotye any time soon

Gotye’s mega-hit Somebody That I Used To Know has been sitting on top of the charts for quite some time now, but let’s admit it, we’re ready for some new music from the Aussie singer. Unfortunately for us, though, Gotye has revealed that he has yet to write any new songs.

“I haven’t started writing anything yet actually,” the singer says, with a laugh, at the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet. “I’m actually still feeling quite fresh — I’m ready to write new stuff. This for me has been a fast experience of putting an album out.”

Success has hit the musician quickly and he admits that the past year has felt like a whirlwind, adding that it feels more like “three or four years compacted into one.”

“I still take a step back sometimes and get a bit freaked out by it,” he adds. “It’s lovely to have a big hit song — it’s great.”
