Over the years, Much has been home to some incredible VJs and interviewers, but one who stands in a class of his own is Nardwuar, The Human Serviette. Calling him The Human Wikipedia may be a bit more appropriate, as the music expert seems to know everything about every artist…and every artist they’ve liked, and what their first band was called, and who they’re related to, and where the first kiss was located…seriously, the man can’t be stumped.
There are thousands of hours of footage of Nardwuar’s interviews, but instead of posting every interview ever conducted by Nardwuar (though we do think you should watch them all), we grabbed a few that show off what makes Nardwuar amazing.
Nardwuar vs. Drake
Many musicians didn’t grow up knowing the man, the legend, the walking encyclopedia that is Nardwaur. Drake, on the other hand, grew up in Toronto and watched Nardwuar for years on Much. He knew what he was getting into, and no one has even been more excited to be interviewed than Drake is in this clip of the rapper with Nardwuar.
Nardwuar vs. N.E.R.D.
In contrast to Drake, N.E.R.D. are the perfect example of an artist having no idea what they’re getting into with Nardwuar and being completely blown about by one of the greatest interviewers of all time.
Nardwuar vs. Jay Z
Pharrell was so impressed with Nardwaur during his time with the interviewer that he urged, possibly harassed, Jay Z until he agreed to grant interview time with the Human Serviette.
Nardwuar vs. Ed Sheeran
“You’ve done your research man, I like this.”
Nardwuar vs. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis
It’s pretty crazy to see two guys who spend all their time together learn more about one another because of information Nardwaur has dug up.
Nardwuar vs. Haim
The three sisters were prepared for Nardwuar, even dressing for the occasion, but they were still blown away by his ability to crawl into their minds. We don’t get it either. It’s amazing.
Nardwuar vs. Hannibal Buress
Straight-faced comedian Hannibal Buress never breaks his collected vibe…until he gets interviewed by Nardwuar. I don’t think I’ve ever heard Hannibal laugh!
In celebration of Much’s 30th Anniversary we’re going to be looking at plenty of amazing footage all month long. Keep up with the great anniversary content on Much.ca and by using the hashtag #ForeverYoung.Tweet
