“I’m definitely gonna be putting the album out this year, finally.”
Those sound like the words of a dependable, confident producer/rapper. Umm, not so, not so. Dr. Dre uttered those words back in April and, well, despite a couple of leaked tracks that he’s disowned as unfinished, Detox still has yet to surface.
Well, Dr. Dre is up to his tricks once again, now saying his long-awaited, now eight years in the making album will be out in February 2011. (Notice how there is no firm date.)
While there is plenty to scoff at, take one look at the guest list: Jay-Z (pictured), Beyonce, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Akon, La Roux and Game. Your mouth is gushing like a river, innit?
Of course, his new Akon ‘n’ Snoop-assisted single “Kush” leaked, but Dre is now saying he didn’t mean to release that version. Expect the real thing on November 21st, with a video hitting screens on December 6th. (Again, we’ll see.)
Till then, hear the track below.
